Jasdeep Singh is a freelance actor by profession.
Jasdeep hails from Mohali in Punjab. He holds an engineering degree.
Recalling the early years of his life, Jasdeep says that he had been interested in dance and acting from the beginning. At school, he would participate in extracurricular activities like acting, dancing, singing, etc with vigor. He continued his interest in dancing and acting even during college.
Jasdeep shares that he wasn’t interested in studies much and did engineering for the namesake. He says, during engineering, he mostly did the Bhangra and participated in other extracurricular activities at college and didn’t focus much on his studies. After completing engineering, he prepared for government and banking examinations to get a government job but realized that it was not his cup of tea to prepare for the exams. Then his parents asked him to move to Canada as his brother was settled there. He prepared for the IELTS but things didn’t quite work out for him, Jasdeep says.
In 2015, Jasdeep did a play on Bhagat Singh along with a senior theater artist in Chandigarh and he continued doing theater thereafter. In course of time, he decided that acting is something that he wanted to pursue for the rest of his life. He did a supporting role in a movie in 2015. He also acted in various advertisements. In 2020, he got to play a small role in a big-budget movie, Jasdeep says.
Jasdeep says he had visited more than four countries viz. Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, etc., as an actor and was doing well for himself when the Covid pandemic hit. The pandemic affected his acting career. However, to utilize the hiatus in his career, he decided to get a masters in theater from Punjab University. He says, though he completed his masters, he laments that he would have learned more had the classes been conducted offline. Currently, he is working as a freelance artist and gives auditions for various acting roles, Jasdeep says.
Jasdeep says that it was his maternal uncle, who is an actor himself, who inspired him to take to acting.
Talking about his mistakes, Jasdeep says that a man is made up of his mistakes. He says learning from our previous mistakes we make our next decisions. He says, his first performance in his first movie wasn’t up to the mark, and he thinks that he shouldn’t have played that role.
To aspiring actors and social media influencers, Jasdeep advises them to remain consistent in their efforts. Besides, he advises them to make efforts to grow organically on social media and never to resort to any illegal means of gaining more followers on their social media pages.
Jagdeep says that irrespective of age, he considers everyone from whom he gets to learn something as his mentor.
Jagdeep says that he doesn’t have a success mantra as such. He just keeps himself motivated by learning from the life stories of the actors who despite their humble backgrounds established themselves as actors.
