Jalsa lives in Kolkata. She did her schooling from a convent school where she learned discipline since childhood. She did her graduation in Zoology (Hons) and post-graduation in English literature.

Jalsa's interest in dance was not a usual thing in her community. She was able to carry forward her dance-dream because of her father. Many family and society members always objected but her father supported her dream. She learned Bharatanatyam from Guru Shri Thankamani Kutty and Kathak from Shri Kanumati Sen of Lucknow.  She has also learned dance from Guru Padma Rajendra Kumar Ganganiji. She learned to talk to people, maintain public relations, deal with different situations and challenges, and understand each other from her gurus.

Talking about the use of mobile phones in the present era, Jalsa says that it is a very good device to publicize our work via YouTube, Facebook and other social sites but there are other negative things about them that should be avoided by everyone.

Regarding role models in her life, Jalsa says that she considers her father as her role model and also is inspired by all her gurus whose humble and simple nature, and their art have impacted her life.

In her free time, Jalsa listens to music and likes to enjoy natural beauty. She also likes to swim and spend time with kids.

Advising the aspirants of dance, Jalsa advises them to start early in this field. She also says that parents should support their children when they want to join the dance field. She also advises them to put their hundred percent effort into their work and practice.

To everyone, Jalsa advises being confident, hardworking and believing in Karma.
