Jagdish Deepak Rajsoni, a Thewa Kala Artist Giving Extensive Details About the Art That Has Been Practiced in His Family For Over 450 Years

Jagdish took to learning painting and drawing at a very young age. He is a veteran artist of Thewa art and has been carrying forward the four-hundred-and-fifty-year-old legacy of his predecessors in the field of Thewa art.

Jagdish Rajsoni is an artist who has been pursuing Thewa art for the past many years.

Jagdish hails from Pratapgarh. He did a BA in 1969.

Recalling his childhood, Jagdish says that he started learning to paint at a very young age. At the age of fifteen, he began learning Thewa art and by the time he turned eighteen, he received a certificate of expertise in Thewa art from the GOI. Besides, he says that he would always balance his studies and his passion for art, and his school principal always supported him in his endeavors.

Jagdish shares that Thewa Art is about doing intricate gold work on glass. He says his family has been pursuing the art for the past four hundred and fifty years. Besides, he says that Kings and Maharajas in the olden days were quite appreciative of the artists who pursued art and they always supported them. He also says that the recent efforts made by the GOI to promote the artists of Thewa art have resulted in an increase in the number of artists who pursue the art full-time.

Speaking of challenges in his life, Jagdish says that he was born into a poor family and due to that he had a tough time growing up.

Talking of his achievements, Jagdish says that he has received a national award for his artwork. He was also honored with the Shilp Guru Award by the GOI. Besides, he could also have his name written in the Limca Book of Records for his artwork. Furthemore, the Japanese government invited him to exhibit his artwork at the Asia Festival held in Japan.

To artists aspiring to pursue Thewa art, Jagdish advises them that they must first begin with learning to draw and paint. Besides, he advises them to remain hard-working and dedicated in their pursuit of art.

To people, his advice is never to run away from hard work. He says with hard work one can achieve anything in life.

To the youth, Jagdish advises them to also try to earn while they pursue their studies. Besides, he advises them to follow values, respect their parents and take care of their health.
