Even though Jagdish faced many obstacles along the way, he was able to succeed in his mission to educate youngsters. He believes that one must constantly look forward and never look back.

Jagdish Arora is the founder and director of Happy Home Public School in Udaipur.

Jagdish says that he established Happy Home School in 1975. His father was a renowned educator himself who inspired him to establish a school, and with the permission of the Rajasthan state government, it became possible to establish the school. In the initial days of the school, there were a total of six to seven students, and it was a primary school. Slowly and gradually, he started to organize free education campaigns to spread the importance of education and generate awareness among the masses.

Jagdish shares that in 1984, he established another branch of Happy Home School. Secondary and senior secondary classes were also included after enough students got admission into the new school. Expansion and renovation were done in these schools gradually on the directive of the Rajasthan State Education Board. The state government provided free land for the establishment of his school. The school has had many renowned and reputed alumni over the years. He mentions a few of the alumni of his school, including C.P. Purohit, a pass-out from this school who is now a renowned heart surgeon, and Tarun Bajaj, a Walmart executive currently residing in the United States. Moreover, his sons and daughters also graduated from his school. Currently, his school is undergoing a CBSE conversion.

Recalling his childhood, Jagdish says that he was born in Rohtak, Haryana. His childhood was full of struggles. His father passed away in 1979, after his retirement. His brother helped him during his toughest times and in the establishment of the school by providing 1500 rupees during that time. His entrepreneurial journey was full of struggles, but despite all the struggles, he achieved his goal of imparting education to the children of Rajasthan.

Sharing his experience during COVID 19, Jagdish says that many challenges arose. One of them was adapting to the new method of imparting education online. Due to the government's regulations on restrictions on physical classes, the school organized the teachers to take online classes. He believes that proper communication was an issue, but he made sure that the students received proper education for the classes they missed due to network issues.

When asked about his role models, Jagdish mentions his father, his brother, and his wife as his role models.

Jagdish feels that education is the most important aspect of a person's life. His reasoning behind this is that education is the fundamental right of every human being, and no one deserves to remain in the darkness of ignorance. With education, experience is very important. He cites examples of successful people who are not very educated but very experienced, like Steve Jobs. He believes that experience teaches us the much-required skills of problem solving and management.

Jagdish believes that leadership is an important trait for a teacher, but one must be down to earth. A teacher should always be patient with students and help them learn and participate actively instead of commanding them or rejecting their opinions. He also stresses the importance of sports. Sports teach us discipline and keep us healthy and fit. During the pandemic, people also realized the importance of yoga from a health and immunity development perspective.

In his spare time, Jagdish likes to play cricket and engage in sports activities.

On a concluding note, Jagdish advises the youth that unemployment is on the rise. One must fight through the challenges and never lose hope. One should have faith in the Almighty and move forward.
