Jackson Arokiaraj, a Certified Fitness Trainer Who Took Control of His Own Health and Realized its Potential to Help Change Lives

After quitting his corporate career, Jackson began exploring the world of fitness, which also aided in the treatment of his asthma. For more than six years, he has been connected to the field and has collaborated with numerous fitness brands.

Jackson Arokiaraj is a personal trainer and fitness coach at Golds Gym. He is also a Level 1 Animal Flow Training Instructor.

Jackson was born and brought up in Bangalore. He studied at St. Joseph’s School. He earned a polytechnic diploma in electrical and electronics engineering. He recalls that since childhood he has been a very adventurous kid, but he has not participated much in sports and games. He was an asthmatic kid. He would often have to visit hospitals. And doctors would advise him to incorporate physical exercises into his daily routine.

As a kid, Jackson says that he would watch adventurous TV series and programs, and that would inspire him a lot. When he was in college, he suffered an asthma attack. He was advised to go to the gym to train physically and work on his breathing techniques.

Jackson shares that when he first started gymming, he was underweight. He had to work on gaining weight. He was not physically that strong. But one fine day, he happened to look at himself post-workout and realize that he was not the same person anymore. He had transformed physically, and that’s what inspired him to take his physical fitness further. He even stopped using his nebulizer.

Continuing his experimentation with his fitness training, Jackson enrolled himself in an animal flow training workshop. He says that animal flow training works on our body’s conditioning, strength, mobility, and stability and transforms it overall. Whereas weight training works on the external transformation of our body only.

During COVID, Jackson facilitated virtual training sessions for his clients. He started posting fitness videos on Instagram. He felt that virtual training sessions were not as interactive and involved as in-person training sessions. But he quickly adapted to it. Many of his clients experienced good results with regard to their physiques. But during the second wave of the pandemic, it took a toll on him. Some of his clients lost loved ones. To distract himself and his clients, he started taking training even more seriously and motivating them.

Jackson is optimistic about the fact that online physical training has a good future. He also mentions that people are now more into functional training than just weight training.

Jackson says that his good English communication skills helped him interact with his clients better. Soon, word of mouth started to spread, and he started getting many more clients.

Jackson, talking about the struggles he faced in his professional and personal lives, says that he had a well-paying corporate job. And when he wanted to take up fitness training full-time, he had to face the skepticism of his parents. He started his fitness journey at Gold's Gym. He would work for eighteen hours a day. He started with meager compensation. But he never gave in. It took him three years to establish himself.

To anyone who wants to be a fitness trainer, Jackon’s piece of advice is to either go all in or not start at all, as it is not easy to be a fitness trainer, especially in India. Besides, you should never stop learning.

Jackson shares that his experience in life has taught him what education couldn’t. Though he also says that at some points in life, his education and experiences worked hand in hand, He says that what he learned during his college and school days also helps him in his professional life. Owing to his technical background, he can sort out glitches in fitness training apps and, hence, help improve the user experience.

When asked about his role models, Jackson considers the character Goku from Dragon Ball Z as his inspiration.

Apart from fitness training, Jackson likes to socialize with people. He likes to host parties for his friends. Besides, he also likes to play video games.

Jackson believes that a leader is someone who helps others be better versions of themselves. According to him, leadership comes with experience in life.

Jackson advises everyone that one should have a laser-like focus to achieve something in life. Besides, setting realistic goals for yourself helps you achieve them. Furthermore, a combination of hard work, perseverance, and smart work helps you fulfill your goals.
