Ishani has always been passionate about writing, which relieves her stress and helps her stay calm in any circumstance. She began writing when she was only in eighth grade and believes that it has made her more empathetic. She has also had her book, "The Scars Will Shine," published.

Ishani Dubey is a managing consultant and author at DSPIN Consulting Pvt. Ltd.

Ishani shares that she started writing at a very young age. As a teenager, she went through a rough and dark phase in life where she had to suffer from mental illness and depression. That is what her book is all about. It talks about the journey of a person who deals with depression, falls in love, and comes to a state of balance again in life. Apart from writing, she is also a mental health advocate and is working on a project called ‘Rahat’ as a management consultant, which aims at developing a website for people who are suffering from mental illness and depression to get aid.

Ishani finds comfort in writing. She says it gives her peace and helps her let go of all the heavy emotions inside her. She used to keep a diary while she was undergoing the depression phase and write everything in it. She had no knowledge of writing, and she didn’t want anyone to understand what she used to write in her diary. Thus, to summarize her thoughts, she used to write everything in the form of a poem. She never learned how to write; it all came to her naturally because she was filled with emotions. Little did she know that people were going to love, appreciate, and relate to it so much. Her parents were very supportive, even after reading all her personal poems, and urged her to publish her book, which she did two years ago.

Ishani says that she never used to be a reader or a writer. She was always an extrovert. She never used to read books, but when she read the book "The Diary of a Young Girl" by Anne Frank, she was impressed by how mere words can easily influence someone. She feels it is harder to absorb a book than poetry because what poetry can make you feel in just a few lines would have to take multiple pages. She feels that her writing style in poetry is a little on the darker side, but it does have its benefits because people can relate to it more easily. She always writes about her feelings because she thinks that they lose their essence if you leave them unattended.

Talking about her education, Ishani says she has studied all around the globe in different places. She completed her primary and secondary studies at Birla Vidya Niketan. She met a lot of new people during her time at the school, and she thinks that is how she got to know a lot of stories and learn about so many different cultures.

After her schooling, Ishani went to the U.S. to pursue her business studies at one of the best business schools in the world but had to come back due to a severe illness after a year. She then took a five-year integrated program to pursue a B.B.A. and an M.B.A. at OP Jindal University, Haryana. In her third year, she went to Australia on a foreign exchange program for six months. Currently, she has an offer to join University College, Dublin, where she is going to complete her M.Sc. in management consultancy. She believes it is her exposure to different cultures and her education that have helped her reach the summit of her career as a writer.

Ishani believes that personal success and professional success are not the same. For a person to be successful professionally, they should be able to learn from their failures and never be jealous of others’ progress. They should always have healthy relationships with others and try to learn new things from them. And for someone to be successful personally, they should have mental peace and the ability to see the world through happy eyes. She believes that no matter what happens in life, it will always get better in the end. One should be ready to take the leap of faith regardless of what others have to say, and even if they fail, they should learn from it and try not to make the same mistake twice. She feels motivated by the lines of Charles Bukowski: "Poetry is what happens when nothing else can".

Ishani thinks that earlier people used to believe that writers were people who were old, experienced, and thoughtful in life. Their poetry consisted of complicated vocabulary and was used to show a play of words, but today, writing and poetry have taken many other forms. The main motto now is to connect with as many people as possible. Poetry is a way to show you have empathy and that you can see the world differently. It's about walking in people’s shoes and spitting their emotions on paper. Concepts that were earlier considered taboo are now very general, and poetry is now helping to bring people from all around the world together.

In her free time, Ishani loves to read a good book. She always starts her day with exercising, as it gives her the kickstart she needs every day, and then after she is done with her work, she works on updating a creative journal where she keeps all her memories from places and people.

On a concluding note, Ishani says that the success mantra of everyone’s personal life should be to be happy, and she is always ready to help anyone in need. She is thankful for all the bad experiences she faced in her life, because those are the only reasons she is now able to understand and empathize with people. It has given her hope that everything will get better in the end.
