Hailing from Haryana, where the society is put at the topmost priority, getting an education and fulfilling her dreams was next to impossible for Isha. But she was audacious enough to rebel against the patriarchal norms and always did what she wanted to do.

Isha is an advocate by profession. She practises at the Supreme Court. Besides, she is also the founder of an NGO by the name “ Zindagi Ek Prathmikta”, which has been working for the past four years on mitigating suicides across the country.

Isha completed her schooling in her village in Haryana. Owing to some issues at her end, Isha could not attend college physically. She completed her entire college education through correspondence. Today, she is the most educated person in her entire village.

Isha always took inspiration from her father. Her father was also an advocate. She always emulated him.

Isha says that hailing from Haryana, where women are not given many opportunities, it was not a smooth ride for her to chase her dreams. But she was a rebel and always challenged the norms as set by society for women. After completing her LLB, she had to struggle on the professional front as well. She worked in some private jobs, some contractual jobs, and a clerical job. She left the post of a law officer before stepping into the social sector. In 2017, she quit her job with an aim to provide free legal advice to those who can’t afford it.

Isha says that it was a very devastating time for her family, when she lost her elder sister to blood cancer. Her parents remained ill for a long time. She also felt suicidal but she somehow gathered the courage and managed the situation. Today, under the aegis of her NGO, she is extending emotional and legal help to the people who are going through a rough phase in their lives.

When Isha read in a newspaper that Kota registers the highest deaths by suicide, she quit her job and came to Kota with an aim to help those who feel suicidal. She says that initially she struggled a lot. She did not receive much support from the people and the police. She even received death threats. But she carried on, and today more than thirty two hundred people are volunteering at her NGO across the country. She conducts awareness programmes time to time to motivate people and hence avert the deaths by suicide. Besides, she worked on human trafficking, providing education to slum children etc. Authorities from different states have contacted Isha to conduct awareness programmes in their states too.

Talking about her achievements, Isha says that being able to establish her NGO without any external financial support is an achievement for her. Besides, she also considers being able to inspire girls by her work as an achievement.

During Covid, Isha provided help to the needy to the best of her capacity. She provided help with regard to finding beds for Covid patients, providing blankets and food to those affected etc.

Talking about leadership, Isha believes that leadership is about dissenting against what’s wrong and being able to express your ideas well. People believe that she has leadership skills and it can be substantiated by the fact that she has been able to motivate more than two lac people.

Isha is keen on climbing Mount Everest. For that she has enrolled herself for a course in Mussoorie as well.

Even if Isha could go back in time and undo something, she would not want to change anything. Though she would want to get her older sister back.

Isha believes that an identity is not created overnight. You have to go through a lot, sustain a lot and then only your identity is created. Her success mantra is, Be honest to your work and one day you will surely get success.
