Having mastered the Sattriya and Kathak dance forms, Hriday has been practising them for the past twenty years with utmost love and attention.

An Assamese dancer, Hriday Parash Kalita specialises in Sattriya and Kathak. He started performing both forms of art when he was young.

Hriday Parash was born and raised in a small village near Guwahati. He was awarded Visharad in Kathak and Sattriya dances. He studied under Guru Bipul Chandra Das for Kathak and under Guru Bijoy Krishna Debogoswami and Guru Barnali Mahanta for Sattriya.

Describing his childhood, Hriday recalls beginning to learn dance at the age of seven. He says he comes from a family of academicians and no one in his family had ever pursued a career in dancing. His parents enrolled him in dance lessons after noticing his early enthusiasm in the art.

When asked about his hardships, Hriday says that as a male dancer, he has had several challenges, but he views them as learning opportunities. He asserts that in our nation, parents encourage their sons' early desire to study dance, but they grow wary when those same sons want to pursue dancing as a career. To become a dancer, he believes, one must be brave enough to confront any hardship in life with a smile.

Hriday's life motto is to step beyond his comfort zone to accomplish something good.

Hriday counsels young aspirants to be persistent, put in a lot of effort, and take smart risks.
