Hoshiyar Singh is a senior section engineer at the Zonal Railway Training Institute in Udaipur. He began working here in 2012, and his responsibilities as an SSE at ZRTI include the maintenance of signalling equipment used for student training. He works efficiently and manages his responsibilities along with his team members.
Singh was born and raised in Agra, where he completed his schooling. He holds a diploma in electrical engineering. Coming from a poor background, Singh started working in the private sector and taught students how to earn money. In 1989, he began his career as a loco pilot for the railways. After three years, he was transferred to the signals department, where he served at Mavli, Marwar, and Falna stations before finally being assigned to the Zonal Railway Training Institute in Uttar Pradesh.
Hoshiyar Singh had to confront several challenges in his life, but he met them all with courage. To better his family's financial circumstances, he began saving while earning. Despite confronting difficulties, he was able to establish a family, own a home, and advance in his career.
Hoshiyar's father and elder brother serve as his role models and motivation. His father was a worker, and his brother's sacrifices pushed him to succeed in life.
Furthermore, his mentors and seniors at work have significantly influenced his professional demeanor. His elder brother, despite not being able to pursue further education, supported all of Hoshiyar's expenses and kept him motivated.
His advice to prospective candidates is to have strong technical qualifications and focus on their goals. He believes that working with the railroads is a viable career option and recommends that students study diligently.
When Singh has leisure time, he enjoys reading, expanding his general knowledge, and helping with household tasks.
As a success mantra, Singh advocates for wilful hard work and perseverance to attain success in life.
Singh discusses COVID, noting that during the pandemic, all training transitioned to online formats, except for direct entrants. He and his team adhered to all government-established COVID-19 rules, regulations, and standards.
