Himanshu's transition from the technical world to the realm of education has been difficult yet wonderful. He has experience working with a variety of organizations, considers learning to be an art, and is continuously working to improve himself.

Himanshu Purohit works at Sir Padampat Singhania University as a head corporate interface and head executive of the MSME business incubation center at SPSU.

Himanshu comes from the city of Udaipur in Rajasthan. He has done his schooling at sixteen different schools due to his father's transferable job. Initially, it was not easy for him to adjust to such frequent changes, especially the cultural ones, but he somehow managed it. After completing high school, he opted for electronics engineering as he had a keen interest in the subject. Himanshu always had inquisitiveness in the research field, so after completing his graduation, he pursued a Masters from BITS Pilani in Communication Engineering.

Himanshu learned many things during his master's, but his main attraction was the research field, so he pursued a career in academia. After completing his master's, Himanshu started working at Banasthali University as an assistant professor in the Electronics Engineering department. After working at Banasthali for a while, he shifted to Galgotia, where he encountered a retired major general responsible for HR operations at Galgotias University. This encounter motivated him to work in the placement and internship sectors. Himanshu found it very exciting working in that field, as he got to meet many new people and learn many things.

Himanshu shares that he joined the Sir Padampat Singhania University of the JK Cement Group in 2011. There, he worked as the faculty placement coordinator in the electronics department. After working on that post for five years, he was promoted to the post of Head Corporate Interface, which is a very senior-level post. His job is to establish a certain link between the companies and the university.

Talking about his challenges, Himanshu says that he too faced failures and challenges in his initial days. Coming into the real world and competing without much guidance or support was difficult for him. But he considers failure to be part of the learning process.

Himanshu advises the young generation that along with hard work, a certain amount of smart work is also necessary. Youngsters must work on developing the skills pertaining to the field they are aspiring to pursue. And there is no alternative to hard work; one will have to put in honest efforts in the direction of their goal with the utmost dedication to succeed.

When asked about his role models, Himanshu considers his father his role model, who, without much resources or support, elevated himself to a higher level in life. His father managed to clear the exam for the customs department and was also selected for the state civil service while taking care of his family responsibilities too. His father’s devotion to duty and honesty inspires him to follow in his footsteps.

Himanshu is of the opinion that education is very important in professional life, as it is the most basic entry certificate that you must have to pursue a job. Once you get into the field, you start gaining experience, which you gain by making mistakes. He says that you should not fear making mistakes because they help you improve in life. He regards himself as a student rather than a leader and believes in learning throughout life.

Himanshu says that the education sector is a very good field to make a career in. And if someone wants to make their career in this field, first they should focus on educating themselves, and that too from a good institute, and try to gain practical knowledge of everything. Thereafter, they should attain a PhD, which is important in the research field. And for going into the corporate world, they should be extroverted and enjoy interacting with new people and building good rapport with them.

If given a chance to visit his past in a time machine, Himanshu would have started early with his professional life.

In his spare time, Himanshu likes to read a lot. He reads anything that he finds interesting to read, be it novels, stories, journals, or any other book.

Sharing his COVID-time experience, Himanshu thinks of the COVID crisis as a teacher that taught us that the most important thing in life is family. He says that many people were blessed during the lockdown because they finally got a chance to spend time with their families. The lockdown also taught us not to chase materialistic things too much, as life and family are the most important assets in the world.
