Looking at the problems posed by improper solid waste management and disposal in her city, Himani started her own venture to collect scrap from people’s doorsteps to recycle and upcycle household waste. And it’s her small contribution towards sustaining the environment and nature.

Himani Arora is the founder of RaddiDedo, a company that recycles and does upcycle household discarded items. She founded the company in 2021.

Himani hails from Jaipur. She completed her school and college education in Jaipur itself.

Recollecting her childhood memories, Himani says that growing up, she was a naughty kid. Besides, she says that from childhood itself her father had always taught her to be responsible for her actions and she continues following that piece of advice to this day .

Himani shares that at college, she would write poems and articles for her college magazine. Some of her teachers encouraged her to write and speak on the stage. Since she was good at writing, she thought of becoming a writer although her family did not consider becoming a writer a sustainable profession. That’s when she started working as a content writer and social media manager when she learned about these profiles. She worked for different NGOs and many big brands in Jaipur and some other cities.

Himani says that when she moved back to Jaipur due to her father’s demise, she realized that in the city, every day more than eleven hundred metric tons of solid waste was being generated and a very less part of it was being recycled and most of it ended up in landfills. That’s when she came up with the idea of starting something of her own in the field of recycling solid waste.

Himani shared her idea with one of her friends, who helped her with the designing of the app and website for her venture. Thus, RaddiDedo, an online waste collection, and recycling platform came into being.

Himani thinks that one step of yours toward proper disposal of trash can bring about a remarkable shift in society and the environment. She says she regularly organizes awareness programs to educate people on the differences between scrap and waste and how proper disposal of waste can also help the generations to come..

Talking about the challenges she has faced, Himani says that hailing from a family where everyone is into government jobs, choosing her passion for writing and then entrepreneurship was a bit difficult for her initially. Besides, she had to face some challenges during the registration of her company. Furthermore, being a girl, people often question her need to do what she does and she finds it tough to explain to them what inspires her to work for mother nature.

When asked about her role models, Himani says, she considers her father who always encourages her as her biggest role model.

Talking about her achievements, Himani says that she considers being able to start her company as her biggest achievement to date, and it makes her the proudest and happiest. Besides, she has represented her college in various debate competitions and has also represented the country in international business competitions.

Her Success Mantra is to keep working and eventually you will get what you want.

Himani doesn’t think that she is a born leader. She says her college experience and working in the corporate sector developed her leadership qualities.

Himani is of the opinion that both education and experience are important in one’s career. She says education equips you with theoretical knowledge and you learn practical aspects of things with your experience.

If she could go back in time via a Time Machine, Himani would not want to change anything in her past, but she would want to start her company early on.

In her spare time, Himani likes to spend time with her team and listens to their day’s work experience. Besides, she also likes to play Antakshari with her team in her free time.

Reviewing her COVID experience, Himani says that the pandemic brought the whole world to a standstill. She says, especially during the second wave of the pandemic, she faced some problems. She saw some of her acquaintances die due to the disease and it was very heartbreaking for her.

To people, her piece of advice is to keep working and keep chasing their dreams.
