Dr. Hemant Khambete is the Head of the Department of Pharmacy at Medicaps University, Indore.

After the university was established in 2016, the Pharmacy Department was introduced later in 2019. He has been associated with the university from the starting of the Pharmacy Department. He started his career here as an Assistant Professor and is currently serving as a Professor and Head of the Department for the past one and a half years.

Dr. Khambete shares that Pharmacy is a noble profession. Students who choose pharmacy carry a great responsibility toward the healthcare system. If the healthcare system does not function well, the development of the country is also affected. Medicines play a crucial role in patient care, if the medicine is not of good quality, treatment cannot be effective. While doctors diagnose diseases, pharmacists play a vital role in preparing medicines and ensuring their quality. Hence, the Pharmacy Department holds a very important place in the healthcare system.

He shares that many teachers say they did not choose teaching by choice, but he proudly says that he is a teacher by choice. He decided to enter the teaching profession during his master studies because he found teaching to be a noble profession and genuinely loved it. He shares that there are around 40 subjects in Pharmacy, and he has taught 32 subjects so far, which reflects his passion and dedication toward teaching.

He believes that anyone who has knowledge should consider entering the teaching profession because even if one aspect of society fails, teachers have the power to improve generations. In his opinion, teaching is a very meaningful profession and more people should choose it.

Dr. Hemant Khambete is from Indore and completed his schooling there itself in Hindi-medium schools, including Saraswati Shiv Mandir and Bal Niketan. He completed his B.Pharm from Indore, his Master’s Degree from RGPV, Bhopal, and his PhD from Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur.

Recalling his early days, he shares a memorable incident from his B.Pharm days. During a presentation, he was extremely nervous and stood on the stage for almost 10 minutes without being able to speak. His teacher told him that day that he had not given a good presentation and that he could never become a teacher.

That moment became a turning point in his life. He decided that he would become a teacher and prove himself. Through years of hard work and dedication, he mastered his subjects and today he stands as a proud and successful teacher. This incident motivated him to believe that if one truly desires something and works wholeheartedly, success is inevitable. This has become his mantra.

Talking about role models, he shares that his parents are his biggest inspirations. His father is an Ayurvedic Doctor, which inspired him to enter the healthcare field, and his mother, a homemaker, taught him values that continue to guide him in life.

In his professional life, Dr. Sanjay Jain has been his mentor and guide for the past 18 years. Even today, he looks up to him for guidance. Dr. Jain has taught him not only professional skills but also how to be a good human being and how to make the right choices during critical phases of life.

His personal mantra is “Stay positive and focused.” He believes that positivity allows one to see the world from a different perspective. He also strongly believes in consistency, often referring to the idea of “Lage raho”, inspired by the movie Lage Raho Munna Bhai. According to him, staying consistent and focused in one’s field eventually brings positive results.

He shares that the beginning of his career was not easy. After completing his master’s degree, getting a job was difficult, and pursuing a PhD was even more challenging. He applied for PhD admission at 18 places and was selected at only one. Completing his PhD took eight years, which taught him that dedication and perseverance are essential to achieving any goal in life.

After completing his PhD, he achieved a major milestone by filing seven patents in a single year, all of which were published. At Medicaps University, he received recognition for excellence, including the Best Teacher Award, and takes pride in being part of a strong and award-winning department.

For upcoming aspirants and professionals entering the field, he encourages them to choose teaching as it is a social cause. He believes that shaping even one student positively can contribute to the development of the entire nation.

For the youth of India, his message emphasizes that there are no shortcuts in life. Hard work, dedication, honesty, and perseverance are the only ways to reach one’s destination.
