Hem Joshi has been working in the theater field for the last ten years. He has been engaged in Gujarati theater and Hindi plays. Apart from this, he is pursuing a Bachelor's in Film Making and Television from Mithibai College in Mumbai.
Hem has worked in various short films, plays, and also writes and directs plays. He also did a Diploma in Acting from Anupam Kher’s Acting School
Speaking about his interest in theater, Hem says that his father used to do theater and he wanted Hem also to do theater. Hem’s father forcefully got him admitted to an acting school while he was in the third standard and he continued practicing uninterested. However, when he reached the ninth standard, he gradually started developing an interest in acting and that was when his actual theater journey started.
Hem’s journey in theater has been good to date. He says that he is getting enough support from the family and is happy that he has been doing something of his interest. He knows where he needs to improve and is constantly working on those skills and plans. The appreciation of people always motivated him and he is enjoying the journey so far. There were challenges, he faced various rejections, however, he developed and enhanced his skills and moved forward.
Regarding his mistakes, Hem says that he has made several mistakes in the field but he has always learned and improved.
Being on the stage in the initial days of his journey was an achievement for him. Also, when he directed his first play, it was also an achievement for him. Every short film, ad film, or any other work done by him has been an accomplishment for Hem.
Hem draws inspiration from a lot many people, however, when it comes to his major source of inspiration, Hem says that his mentor Vishal has been the one always motivating him and helping him reach where he is today.
To deal with stress, Hem prefers sleeping for a while to avoid any negative thoughts.
Sharing his life mantra, Hem says that he believes in the line, “Live it or leave it”.
Playing various sports like cricket and volleyball is his favorite pastime.
Hem thinks that theater should be a subject in schools. To the upcoming theater artists, Hem says that theater is a very nice field and it helps a person build confidence and develop one’s personality.
