Heena Sukhani is a Creative Director at HeenaAgrima in Jaipur, Rajasthan. She started working in 2019 and got the business registered in 2020.
Heena was born in Jaipur. Her father is a Textile Designer and her Mother is a Fashion Designer. Coming from a family already committed to the Fashion Industry, Heena also decided to join the same. She joined the Pearl Academy in Jaipur. She has done her Post Graduation from Milan. It was in Milan that she started HeenaAgrima and started writing blogs about the impact of materials on the environment and plastic waste.
Heena says that her area of interest is concentrating on packaging and designing. She tries to find ways to keep everything eco-friendly and uses not a bit of plastic or non-biodegradable waste. Heena shares that their ‘Natural Dye Kit’ is garnering a lot of appreciation. They have created an organic dye, extracting colors from fruits and plants. Their packaging is also from recycled paper and does not use plastic. They had an offer to sell on Amazon but denied it because they use tape which is plastic in nature. Heena says that this is the level of care they take when it comes to being eco-friendly. They also want to plant a tree or two for every sale that they make in the near future.
Five years from now Heena sees their brand as a successful venture that would not only focus on monetary gains but would also work towards giving back to society. She wants to create a safe place where people can work to make something that helps nature grow and does not destroy it. Her vision in life is to give back to nature. She believes in sustainability and reuses things to rescue the environment from the pending threat of Global Warming.
During Covid, Heena started growing organic vegetables and exercising to keep herself fit. She says that it was a period where everyone was going through an identity crisis and needed self-introspection about life.
Heena says that Education and Experience go hand in hand. When she used to go to her father's factory as a child, mass production of the same kind of clothes always raised a question in her mind. On the other hand, she saw her mother who had a very limited wardrobe and reused everything. Her mother loved recycling and reusing things. Heena says that it was experience that made her feel the difference and education that gave her the right mind to ask her father about nature and sustainability.
Heena feels that we are taught about Global Warming but the factors that are told to us cannot be controlled by us. From mass level deforestation to industrialization, nothing is in our hands. She laments the lack of practical knowledge which can be used by us in our daily life.
Henna says that being conscious about our surroundings and putting efforts to make it a better and safe place to live is what we can do the best.
