An actress from a village in Dehradun, Harpreet started as a makeup artist, driven by her passion for makeup. Despite family restrictions, she pursued independence. The transition was tough, but her hard work paid off with new opportunities.

Harpreet Kaur is an actress currently residing in Delhi. She is from a village in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. She belongs to a family centric background with a childhood spent with brothers and sisters, when she enjoyed life merrily.

Harpreet says that she was passionate about make-up which drove her towards Lakme Fashion Week, where she worked as an makeup artist.

Harpreet shares that she was keen to live an independent lifestyle and wanted to live on her own terms in her life, rather than being influenced by societal cliche. She describes that the difficult time was when she had to leave her family back and stride towards a brighter future. That was because of the orthodox nature of her family background, as her family didn’t allow girls to work outside of their household premises. She broke the shackles and moved ahead.

The transition from being surrounded by family members and then being absolutely alone was difficult for her. It became a matter of sheer demotivation and she had second thoughts. She started cursing herself for choosing this way of life. But, her hard work, passion and perseverance bore golden fruits as she got new incentives and jobs which boosted her morale, says Harpreet.

During Covid, Harpreet’s need for her family grew as the pandemic raged across the world. She feared death which lingered in the air and having no acquaintance around, it haunted her, says Harpreet.

Harpreet draws her inspiration from her teacher, Vishal Vashishtha, at the drama theater she worked at. She describes him to be an absolute workaholic and believes in hard work as the key to success.

If given a chance to go back in time in a time machine, Harpreet would certainly love to relive her schooldays when she had roamed about tension free. No work pressure, no strings attached; the time when she felt free, absolutely free.

Harpreet's message to the new generation of strugglers is clear: "You are the sole person capable of realizing your dreams. No friend or family member will pave the way for you; it's your responsibility to strive and fight to achieve them."
