In his long standing career in the education sector of Rajasthan, Harish always led and worked with people with a right blend of love and strictness as to seeing people around him happy was his topmost priority.

Harish Chandra Joshi retired from the post of Deputy Director of Education in 2002.

Harish was born in Nathdwara, Rajsamand. He did his schooling in Nathdwara itself. He went to Indore to complete his bachelor's degree.

Harish spent his childhood near Shrinathji temple in Nathdwara. He would go to gardens in his village with his friends and pluck fruits there. He would play with his friends and his childhood was a fun period of his life.

Harish shares that he received his entire school education prior to engineering in the Hindi medium. When he went to Indore to pursue engineering, he received a backlog in English. Owing to that he had to drop his engineering as the curriculum over there was taught in English. He then did B.Sc. and then M.Sc. in Indore itself.

After completing his post graduation, he came back to Nathdwara with an aim to serve in Rajasthan only. He got his first posting at a government school at Kelwara village in Kumbhalgarh. He served in that post for six years. Then he was transferred to Mavli. After that he got selected as the Head of the Institution of a government school in Kunwaria, Rajsamand through the Public Service Commission.

Harish says that he was very young when he joined as the Head of the Institution. Being young, it was a bit challenging for him to handle the people and take them along, but he learnt it and he administered the institution with the right combination of love and strictness.

Harish believes that nothing is impossible and you can do whatever you want to do. During his professional career, he did much such work which others could not do.

Harish says that as a District Education Officer in the Bhilwara district he was able to produce good academic results for the district.

Harish says that whenever he would go to inspect a school in his district, he would carry along plants and during recess, he would ask everybody to contribute to planting a plant. This way he was able to plant more than five thousand plants whilst in service.

After Bhilwara, Harish was transferred to Udaipur and then to Ajmer. He worked as the DEO in Ajmer. Then he was transferred to Udaipur and he joined as the Deputy Director of Education of the district. Looking at his work, he was also made the Director of the District Primary Education Programme and he played a crucial role in getting funds from the World Bank and then distributing them across different districts to improve the quality of the primary education there. After a long-standing career in the education sector, he retired as the Deputy Director of Education, Udaipur.

Harish always lived a disciplined life. Even post his retirement he followed a routine. He would wake up early in the morning followed by a walk by the Fateh Sagar Lake. He would also do Yoga and Pranayam to keep a check on his physical fitness.

Harish considers his father as his role model. He learnt from his father to eat well, dress well and work the hardest.
