Bani did not hail from a background of music, but still decided to nurture her interest in the art. She took formal education in the same and now teaches aspirants of the field through her academy.

Bani Kaur is a Singer, Music Instructor and Owner at Bani's Music Academy. Her inclination is towards Punjabi Folk and Ghazal singing.

Talking about her childhood, Bani says that it was a good time of her life and she followed the principles and ideals taught by her parents. Her father had an interest in singing, though he was not from a musical background. It was on his Harmonium that she once played ‘Shabad Kirtan’ , to the amazement of her father.

On the education front, Bani says that she did her schooling from government school and then graduated from MCM DAV College where she started learning music from her gurus. Then she did her masters from Punjab University and learned music in the  ‘Agra Gharana’.

When asked about her mistakes, Bani says that she has made plenty of them but has also learned from them so that they are not repeated ever again in life. She says that she tries to follow the principles and ideals his father has taught her to avoid any wrongdoings.

Speaking about her role models, Bani says that it is Dr. Simmi R. Singh who was the Head of Department of Music in MCM DAV College. Bani says that everything that was taught to her, whether classical or ghazals, was done by her and she respects and adores her a lot in life.

Sharing about her life mantra, Bani says that she believes we should never lose hope and never quit in life. She feels that we can do anything in life and that we should never think otherwise.

Bani feels that the present generation desires easy access to everything in life. She feels that music is not something one can excel in overnight. It is a field that requires utmost dedication and practice. She feels that one cannot skip hardwork in this field and there is no alternative to this.

In her free time, apart from practicing music, she likes swimming, stitching and doing embroidery. She also likes traveling with her family and friends.
