Gurmala believes in maintaining a good classroom environment as it nurtures students’ minds to pursue academics better. For someone who wishes to pursue teaching as a profession, her advice is to first have thorough subject knowledge as a teacher. A democratic and positive environment in the classroom is required. One must be able to inspire and motivate children in a way that is not confrontational. A teacher must be able to interact with students in a friendly manner and maintain a positive environment in the class by enforcing discipline whenever necessary without being strict.
Sharing her experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, Gurmala says that she struggled a bit with online classes as she was not familiar with technology. Connecting with students was also a problem. When the school reopened, she had to teach many lessons again.
According to her, education is important as it is the foundation upon which experience is built.
