Dr. Gunjan Goel is a Medical Officer and Assistant Professor at Himachal University. She is also a Telemedicine Consultant.
Gunjan was born in Ranchi and brought up in Delhi. She did her MBBS from Uttar Pradesh.
Gunjan says that when she was in middle school, her grandfather fell sick. Listening to her parents talk about his illness and the hardships they were facing in getting proper treatment, she realized the importance of the medical field and decided to go into this field.
Gunjan shares that after her MBBS, she got married and moved to the United States with her husband, who is also a doctor. There she had her son and also did a management course in population dynamics. It gave her a sense of how medical help was limited to a few.
Soon, Gunjan moved back to India and shifted to Solan, Himachal Pradesh. Once back, her inner desire to work again pushed her into the field and she joined the university as a medical officer. She also started teaching Pharmacology to the students of the university she was working in.
Talking about her achievements, Gunjan says that having a cordial family relationship and keeping the family coherent and connected is her biggest achievement in today’s time when families are falling apart.
Sharing about her inspirations, Gunjan says that she learns from everyone and especially her kids. She feels that while raising them she has also grown as a person.
Gunjan advises the youth who aspire to come into the medical field to be sincere and generous towards their patients because that is how the respect of a person is earned is what she feels.
The quote that Gunjan likes is, “Be good and goodness will come back to you.”
In her free time, Gunjan likes to walk the path of spirituality by listening to bhajans and reading the Bhagwat Geeta.
