A renowned yoga teacher, Guneet has made a mark for herself in the field of yoga through her determination and hard work. She feels a deep connection with it and encourages others to practice and experience the positivity that it brings.

Dr. Guneet Monga Bhargava is the HOD at Pacific University.

Guneet lives in the city of lakes, Udaipur. She completed her education until the 10th grade in a Hindi-medium school and decided to become a doctor. She thought that pursuing a doctorate in a regional language was not possible if she did not learn English. No school in Udaipur accepted her as a student, as she was studying at a Hindi-medium school from the beginning.

However, one school gave her an opportunity on the condition that if she passes the 11th grade with good results, she will get a chance to appear for the 12th grade later. She accepted the challenge given to her and passed 11th grade with flying colors. Thereafter, she aspired to do an MBBS but could not qualify for PMT. She pursued physiotherapy along with her BSc. During her physiotherapy practice, her patients would often ask her about yoga.

Talking about how she came into the field of yoga, Guneet says that after completing her graduation, she wanted to pursue an MSc in Biotechnology but eventually did a PG Diploma in Yoga. She even topped her university and felt a deep connection with yoga. After her marriage, she opened her own yoga studio.

Recalling her childhood, Guneet says that she was shy by nature as a child. Communication was not her plus point, though she overcame her difficulties and now can communicate with many people in a confident manner. She liked to read books. She loved studying and used to concentrate only on that and nothing else.

Guneet shares that she once had a hairline fracture in an incident, but it was not a major elbow injury. She received basic treatments and was later released by the doctors. She was a yoga teacher, and thus she started her own medication, which proved dangerous as her hairline fracture did not heal and had grown into a major fracture due to the wrong exercises. She later had major surgeries, thus recovering from the severe elbow fracture.

Guneet’s advice to the common populace is to never quit in life. Life gives you enough opportunities to start something new every day; don't throw them away. Later in 2013, she suffered from intestinal obstruction, and a part of her intestine was removed, which caused her severe pain. Even in those critical situations, she fought for her life and continued her yoga classes.

The pandemic situation proved to be a blessing for Guneet, as she utilized her free time to immerse herself in Indian mythology, including the Ramayana and Mahabharata. After eight years of marriage, she finally had the opportunity to reconnect and spend quality time with her family. Despite facing initial professional challenges during the pandemic, she successfully managed them with her technical expertise, enabling international clients to attend her yoga classes.

Guneet thinks that dedication, determination, and discipline are the 3 D's that help everyone excel in any field they are in. After facing a lot of difficulties, she finally opened her own yoga classes in Udaipur. The stage was set for them to perform at 7 a.m., but it turned out that her business partner had died the night before, which was tragic. Nevertheless, she stood up on the stage and performed the most elegant yoga of her life.

Guneet’s role model has always been her father. She claims that her father and mother have worked for her and dedicated their lives to her, and that now is her chance to repay them. She said that she doesn't work even ten percent of what my father used to work, thus giving her motivation towards her classes. She loves yoga, but on top of that, she has a hobby of reading and cooking as well.
