Gitika Shah is a teacher who wants to help her students create good lives for themselves.

Gitika Shah is a Biology Teacher at the Central Public School, Udaipur.

Originally from Banswara, Gitika now resides in Udaipur. She did her initial schooling at St. Teresa School, Udaipur and the remaining at the St. Paul’s School, Banswara. She pursued graduation at the Meera Girls College, Udaipur followed by MSc Zoology at the University College of Science, Udaipur.

Gitika shares that she initially wanted to become a doctor, but her part-time job of giving tuitions made her realise that she prefers teaching more. Thus, after completing her education, she joined the Central Academy School for a brief period and then pursued her BEd as well. In 1998, she finally landed in CPS.

Sharing her experience of the COVID pandemic, Gitika says that it was devastating for many and she was no exception to it. She mentions that most of her in-laws became COVID positive bringing a period of fear and stress. She further says that she suffered the loss of her brother-in-law and many other close ones to the disease. Professionally speaking, she says that many of the students struggled with their studies due to the lockdown which upsets her as a teacher.

Gitika considers Alka Sharma, the Director of CPS, as her inspiration. She says that she started off her teaching career under guidance of Mrs. Alka Sharma and has learned a lot from her.

Given a chance to go back to her past with a time machine, Gitika would like to amend her decision of studying Biology in her MSc and study Chemistry instead.

Apart from teaching, Gitika likes doing yoga and talking to her family in her free time. She also likes learning from her students and sharing the learnings with her daughter.

Drawing a comparison between education and experience, Gitika says that education is more important in life as it is a necessary precursor to gain experience.
