Gitanjali believes that traveling makes you meet a lot of new people, you learn a lot of things and it, in turn, makes you independent and more confident. And she shares that traveling to different cities during her childhood has made her the person that she is today.
Gitanjali has been interested in baking cakes since her childhood. Her parents always supported her in this endeavour. She did a course in baking and then did an internship at Hotel Taj. She says that doing her internship at the Taj, she got to learn a lot from her mentors. Her mentors nudged her to take baking cakes as her profession and not limit her passion for it to herself.
Gitanjali followed her instincts and took a plunge to start her bakery. She shares that there is a lot involved in starting a bakery, not just your passion and craft skills. A lot of research and understanding of business are involved in starting it.
Talking about challenges in starting her bakery, Gitanjali says that when she started out she did not have any understanding of business, she just had her baking and craft skills to herself. But with time and with the support of her loved ones, it picked up and she started getting orders for her cakes.
Gitanjali feels that the Covid pandemic was tough for everybody. She says that when the lockdown was lifted, she struggled with procuring raw materials for her bakery and with regard to getting enough orders for the cakes.
To the aspiring bakers, Gitanjali’s piece of advice is that you have to take work seriously, if you do it part-time then you would not be able to survive in the long run. Besides, you should be consistent in your work and focus on the quality of your products to retain your clients.
What keeps Gitanjali going at all times is the instant gratification she gets when her clients appreciate her bakery products. Gitanjali says that you can’t be motivated at all times, so you need to be disciplined to keep going.
Gitanjali doesn’t have any one person as her role model. She takes inspiration from people and even the little things around her.
Besides baking, during her free time, Gitanjali likes to do gardening, listen to music and catch up with her friends.
Gitanjali believes that finding a balance in life is very important. She says that we can’t just be running after one thing and holding onto it forever.
