Girish hails from Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Sharing his journey, Girish says that after completing his M.Sc., he started teaching in a higher secondary school. He also did a B.Sc., M.A., and LLB. He used to run a gymnasium. After some time, he closed his gymnasium, and influenced by an interview with Baba Ramdev, started practicing yoga after his retirement from the Food Corporation of India. He used to learn from books and online platforms but realized the need for professional training. He enquired about the yoga courses at DAVV University in Indore, but had problems with admission as he was already 60. However, he finally got accepted and did a six-week certification course in yoga in addition to the PG Diploma in Yoga Therapy for a year. He also got an M.A. in yoga afterwards. He believes practicing yoga has given him mental and physical peace.
Girish shares that doing yoga can naturally cure illnesses such as diabetes and thyroid . They make programmes for such patients where they make them perform different asanas. He advises having a balanced diet. Just doing pranayama, asana, and shatkarma can restore the lost efficiency, he says.
Talking about his achievements, Girish says that he did 600 Surya Namaskars in a yoga competition organized by the Uttar Pradesh Trust, for which he received the Surya Putra award.
Sharing about his challenges, Girish says that during his MA exams, he had to memorize a lot of material, which was not easy at his age as he kept forgetting things. He says that his wife has supported him in every decision.
Girish encourages everyone to pursue yoga as a profession, as it can provide many job opportunities along with focusing on our health.
