A Painter and Handicraft Artist, Girdharilal had a natural inclination towards painting from a young age. After completing his schooling, he began painting by mastering the basics and honed his skills to establish a good reputation in the field.

Girdharilal Vishwakarma is a Painting Artist from Jodhpur.

Originally from the small village of Alamsar in Barmer, he attended primary school there itself. After that, he moved to Barmer City for his 10th and 11th grades, where he began his journey in painting. In Barmer, he learned the fundamentals of portrait making and sketching.

Since childhood, Girdharilal had been passionate about painting and believed he could excel in this field. The encouragement and appreciation he received from others further fueled his interest.

In 1984, he moved to Jodhpur, where he met his mentor, Lal Singh Bhati. Under his guru's guidance, he learned traditional handicraft art and gold work, with his mentor correcting his mistakes and guiding him in his artistic pursuits.

Reflecting on his artistic journey, Girdharilal acknowledges the influence of his two mentors, one in Barmer and the other in Jodhpur, on his artistry.

For aspiring artists, Girdharilal advises against seeking shortcuts, emphasising the importance of dedication and honesty in pursuing a straightforward path in life. He believes that one should work with sincerity, focusing on their efforts rather than worrying about the outcomes.

Apart from painting, he has a passion for music, is well-regarded in that field, and has an extensive collection of gramophone records and music.
