Girdhari Lal Sharma is a retired Principal from a Sanskrit college and a Purohit at an ancient temple in Pushkar in Rajasthan.
For more than 34 years, Girdhari had served as the Principal and Senior Lecturer at two Sanskrit colleges. His area of expertise is grammar and literature in Sanskrit. During his tenure, all his students passed the exams in his subject in the first division.
Talking about Pushkar, Girdhari Lal says that it is a city of temples. He says Pushkar has the oldest temples in the world. Ashrams of all religions can be found here. Students come to the ashrams to study Sanskrit and the ashrams also make all arrangements for their food and accommodation. Girdhari says, in Pushkar, recitations, bhajans, and worship are organized every morning and evening in the temples, due to which the atmosphere is very peaceful. Whoever comes here goes away happy, this is the glory of Pushkar, says he.
Girdhari Lal’s success mantra is to be punctual in life. He made sure to reach his college daily for more than twenty-eight years. He always keeps in mind that the work should be done at the time it is to be done, so he finishes his work first without wasting any time.
Girdhari Lal says he did his education at Sri Rama Vaikunth Sanskrit PG College, Pushkar. His Guru Shri Damaodar Shastri Bharadwaj was a noble and humble man.
When asked about his experience during the COVID period, Girdhari Lal says he lost some of his known ones but the people of the city were already aware of the intensity of the virus and took appropriate precautions suggested by the Government. Because of this, the city didn’t face any big crisis during the COVID period as seen by other cities in the country.
When asked about his free-time activities, Girdhari Lal says he doesn't have any because he gets up early in the morning at four and spends an hour and a half praying and serving the Lord. He doesn't have any free time because he also supports his sons in running their various enterprises.
Girdhari Lal suggests the youth to follow their life according to the principles of the “sanatan dharma”. Every single youth must follow their life in a pious, religious and disciplined way, he suggests.
