Gautam, a chess trainer, encountered numerous challenges along the way. Having won numerous state and national titles, he is committed to giving the aspirants the best chess training available and believes in the value of hard efforts.

Gautam Katariya is a chess trainer at the Kingdom of Chess, a chess academy in Udaipur.

Gautam is also Rajasthan's youngest FIDE Arbiter. He has won several state titles and competed for Rajasthan at several national competitions.

Gautam says he used to play chess with his pals when he was younger. It piqued his curiosity in the game even more, and he wanted to know how the chess knight functions. He later enrolled in an academy to learn chess techniques and to improve his knowledge of the game. When he first began playing and learning chess, there weren't many academies offering high-quality training. While some institutes existed, they weren't very good. Following his B.Com, he went on to work as a chess tutor.

He feels wonderful providing young students excellent chess coaching, something he had not  been able to get himself. In addition, he wants to prepare them for global competitions.

Gautam is certain that his students will one day represent the nation abroad because of his diligence and commitment to teaching chess. He concentrates on keeping his pupils interested and entertained in class since he believes that today's kids have shorter attention spans. Rather than listening to their tutors in class, he tells aspiring chess players to concentrate on their own practice at home and finish their homework.

According to Gautam, your diligence and your desire to succeed are the only factors that decide your achievements. To reach your objectives, you have to get out of your comfort zone. His primary goal is to instil in the children the value of hard effort.

Recalling his early memories, Gautam says that when he was in eighth grade, he changed school and enrolled in St. Anthony’s School. He participated in many CBSE chess competitions there, giving him wonderful childhood memories. Even now, he still treasures the times he had in CBSE competitions with his buddies.

Regarding his struggles, Gautam says he has had several, but one of the main problems a person faces while trying to compete in tournaments is money. Even though he had similar problems in his life, he never gave up on his goal of being a professional chess player. Secondly, he had to deal with the issue of inadequate training in his days and the opposition of several people to his own progress.

His success mantra is “Work in silence and let your success make the noise.”

Advising everyone who wishes to work in the field of chess, Gautam says that anybody can learn and play the game without the need for any special abilities or credentials. All that is required is a commitment towards the game.
