Gaurav Sharma is currently working as a Consumer court case lawyer in Udaipur.

He completed his primary education in Bhartiya Shiksha school which is a government school. After schooling, he completed LLB and LLM from Mahatma Gandhi Senior Law College in 2005. From 2006 onwards he started his professional career practicing as an advocate.

To become a lawyer through the traditional route, one first needs to complete a qualifying law degree LLB at university. If one wants to be a solicitor one must complete the vocational Legal Practice Course (LPC) before undertaking a training contract with a law firm. It is a six-year program aimed at post-A-level students, paralegals, and chartered legal executives. The period of study is reduced for those who progress from other legal apprenticeships. Researching points of law, drafting legal documents and contracts, managing case files, meeting clients, attending court, and networking with legal professionals are very important duties of an advocate according to him. Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial. Legal recruiters cite awareness as one of the most important attributes a candidate can have.

During the Covid 19 pandemic, he had to face a lot of struggles from a professional standpoint. There were lesser cases by clients and the dwindling number of cases meant financial problems due to a lower income. Many of his lawyer friends had left for their heavenly abodes due to the deadly disease. Finally, the government prohibited the proceeding of cases after April, and courts were fully closed off following the covid 19 guidelines and protocols. He deems this as one of the most challenging phases of his life.

Gaurav considers his father as his role model. His father himself was very renowned in judicial circles and was the person who inspired and motivated him to pursue law instead of any other profession and he takes great pride in his profession today.

He professes that Ignorantia Juris non excusat. Knowing laws is mandatory for every citizen of India. Awareness of law is important in today’s day and age for the layman. There are lots of career options in law also. He advises that the students studying law should start focussing on their career plan from the first year itself because of the diverse career options. On a concluding note, he says honesty at work is the best policy.
