Gaurav Sharma is the owner of a unique little cafe catering to fun-loving people. He also owns a tea stall ‘Chaiwala’ which he intends to convert into a chain of stalls.
Gaurav has had his struggles in life just like many other people. When he was in the 10th standard, he worked as a cashier-cum-accountant at a food court in the RKay Mall on a low salary. After 12th he went to Pune for his college studies. There also he worked part time in a Honda Two Wheelers showroom. Thereafter, he also worked at a Maruti-Nexa showroom for some time. He was in Pune for six years.
When Gaurav had completed his P.G in 2020, he was placed in a company which gave him an opportunity to work-from-home. So, he came back to Udaipur and started his job. Soon, he realised that he would have to do something else to earn more money. He was inspired by the brand MBA-Chailwala. As he is himself an ardent tea-lover he, along with a friend, started his tea stall named ‘Chaiwala’. He used to go there with his laptop, worked for his job, and also looked after the tea shop. He dreams of expanding his tea business into a chain of tea stalls on the lines of other established tea-stall chains like Rajwadi Chai and Mumbai Chai.
As he saw good scope in the restaurant business, he started a cafe too, which is doing good at present. In Covid time, business was affected but he had a good time with his family.
Gaurav considers the Chief Marketing Officer at his college as his role model. He has learnt sales and marketing from him and follows him blindly. The CMO also groomed him in leadership, which Gaurav thinks does not come by birth but is acquired gradually in life.
For newcomers to the cafe business, Gaurav’s advice is that they should have their goals and priorities clear. He says, for example, if you want to open a South Indian food joint then you should go for it full-fledgedly. Whether youngsters or families, your target should be clear from the beginning. And, you must maintain quality in every dish you serve as the customer judges you by the first dish they eat.
If he gets a chance to go back in time, Gaurav would like to relive his school days when there is no pressure and you enjoy your life completely.
His message to everyone is that you should set your goal and then go after it.
