A self-starter and experienced business leader, Gaurav is currently focused on growth at a top healthcare IT products and solutions company.

Gaurav Mundra, VP-Operations at San Francisco-based 314e Corporation, has been overseeing the company's business operations outside the US since 2019. He has been with the company since 2019, and the company has offices in India, Bengaluru, Jaipur, and Bhutan.

Remembering his childhood, Gaurav says he completed his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalayas in different cities as his father had a transferable government job and got transferred every four years. Gaurav regrets that, due to this, he could not make stable friendships. On the other hand, he feels it gave him an opportunity to meet different kinds of people.

Gaurav graduated from college with a degree in computer science, worked as an intern at TCS, and then moved to Jaipur to get an MBA. He first started working for a company where he studied sales and marketing. He said that his supervisor was extremely strict because he frequently sent Gaurav and another trainee to the main industrial districts and instructed them to conduct market research. Although it was a difficult profession, it helped him better understand life's challenges.

Gaurav then moved to a software and BPO company in Jaipur as a Business Development Officer, where he worked for eleven years. As a representative of the company, he went to the US several times and was later promoted to be its COO. Gaurav believes that “a rolling stone gathers no moss,” and so he had a long stint at one company. Gaurav thinks money is important in life, but he believes you should not do anything in life that you don’t like. You should select your first job very carefully so that you do not end up not liking the job just after a few months.

However, he claims that at that point, the entrepreneurial bug struck him. Together with a friend, he established an edtech firm, and under that umbrella, they developed an app that improved communication between parents and schools. Eight hundred users were using their app at one point, and it was moderately successful. However, he claims that in such a cutthroat market, it was extremely challenging to maintain the business, and they eventually ran out of cash. By chance, they were able to sell their business to a Kolkata-based investor.

According to Gaurav, their assumption that they would achieve rapid success and effect significant change was wrong. He understood that change takes time. According to him, you just pay attention to the success tales and ignore the failure stories, which are actually more enlightening. He also says that in order to discover the appropriate answer, one should examine the issue from all angles.

Gaurav believes that the younger generation has the capacity to pick up information more quickly. However, he advises young people to assume responsibility for their work and hold themselves accountable. You need to be certain of what you want to do with your life, in his opinion. If things don't work out, you must be realistic and willing to fail. He advises them to plan their careers and make wise choices for the future. He exhorts students to consult with reliable sources and base their professional choices on their personal passions and interests. Gaurav thinks that asking for advice from mentors and knowledgeable people can offer insightful information and assist in making well-informed decisions. He also highlights the significance of ongoing learning and adapting to new challenges, as it is crucial for personal and professional growth.

Several people, according to Gaurav, have inspired him throughout his life. Both his superiors and coworkers taught him. He is appreciative of how those close to him have always provided advice and support, whether things are going well or not. He always looked up to and was inspired by Rajesh Mundra, his cousin. He belongs to the nonprofit group "The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE)," whose goals include promoting entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking, and education. Gaurav claims that he has always received valuable insights from its members.

Gaurav claims that he enjoys listening to audiobooks and reading books in his free time. In the same way that helping his wife around the house, caring for their kids, and cooking in the kitchen with her might be stressful at times, reading helps him escape the tension.

Gaurav says that even if given the ability to go back in time and alter anything, he would not want to do so because he believes that everything that makes him who he is today is a result of the good or bad experiences he has had in the past.

For him, success means being able to do what he loves to do and making an impact on the lives of others. He believes that success is not solely measured by material wealth or status but rather by the fulfillment and satisfaction one finds in their chosen path. He encourages others to find their passion and purpose, as it is through pursuing these that true success can be achieved.

As Gaurav is a big fan of the Harry Potter series, both movies and books, the one quote of Dumbledore resonates with him the most: "Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who deserve it."

Gaurav counsels everyone to keep in mind how fleeting life is. You should aim to strike a balance between your personal and professional lives, he says. He suggests that you should talk to those around you about any issues you might be having.
