We should never be afraid to start over.
We should never be afraid to start over.
Garima Mathur is the founder of Gurumai Training Consultant.
Garima hails from Udaipur. She has a doctorate in human resource management.
Garima shares that after establishing a career in the education sector, she gradually moved to a training profile because of her passion for training. She recently set up her venture as a training consultancy in the city.
Garima explains that her company, Gurumai Training Consultancy, takes care of a variety of training modules and works with many corporate entities, NGOs, and research organizations. She elaborates on the plans of her company, which will engage rural women and women living below the poverty line in Udaipur and Rajasthan at the start. Garima aims to fight for women's issues like domestic violence and give them the financial freedom they deserve. In the future, she aims to open an NGO of her own for the same purpose.
Talking about her achievements, Garima says that she is working with many companies from across the country. She is also working on many government projects and slowly advancing in the corporate social responsibility domain. She advises aspiring entrepreneurs to welcome their failures as successes. According to her, your failures teach you more about life than your successes do.
Sharing her challenges, Garima says that after five to six years of working in the education sector, she realized that the growth was not much and felt an inclination towards becoming a trainer, which she started from scratch. She feels one needs to step out of their comfort zone and be willing to take a risk in order to start their own venture. She advises starting over and following your passion, and things will work out because you will be comfortable doing what you love.
When asked about her role models, Garima says that her grandfather is her inspiration, who taught her to be the best version of herself and never compare herself with others.
If given a chance to travel back in time via a time machine, Garima would become a police officer so that she could do something for society, especially women’s safety. And, second, she would want to be a solo traveler, just traveling the world on her own.
In her spare time, Garima likes to go on long drives and has an unwavering love and passion for SUVs. According to her, cars are one of the most beautiful creations of humans. She extends this passion to her work as well, with some of the major automobile manufacturers, like Hyundai and Renault, as her clients. She owns a Renault Duster, and long drives in the car act as a major stress buster for her.
Garima’s message for everyone is to be humble, believe in the power of gratitude, help others, and stay positive. She says that one should aim for teamwork rather than standalone efforts, as one can achieve much more with teamwork.
