Helping people become more presentable and job-ready, Garima Kapoor Baxi runs her own soft skills institute and a BPO. She feels that how you present yourself is the first impression you make on anyone.

Garima Kapoor Baxi is the owner of Skill Tree Solutions. She is also a learning and development consultant.

Garima was born in Misurata, Libya, and spent the initial six years of her childhood there. Then her parents, who are both doctors, shifted to Delhi and Garima completed her schooling and college from Delhi itself.

Garima is a graduate of Applied Psychology from Delhi University. After that, she did her Masters in International Business from Pune.

After her studies, she got campus placement in a shipping company and worked there for a few years before starting her own venture.

Garima says that she has her BPO that works with doctors overseas, looking after their back office work and managing their revenue cycle.

Then she co-founded Skill Tree Solutions, to provide soft skills training as she believes that technical knowledge may or may not build your future but your personality and soft skills will definitely do. They encourage clients to relook their task processes and responsibilities and adapt to appropriate changes.

Talking about her inspirations, Garima says that her grandmother was a very strong lady and influenced her a lot. She never gave up on anything and never wasted energy thinking about what could have been. Also, her parents’ hard work and determination have made Garima a dedicated working woman.

Garima says that the tagline of Nike, ‘‘Just do it’’ inspires her a lot. Also, one quote that motivates her is, ‘‘Past is history, future is a mystery and today is a gift. That is why it is called present.’’

Talking about her struggles, Garima says that when she decided to start her BPO, she was apprehensive about whether her skill set would fit the field or not. She was also not very open to new opportunities then and hence had missed many of them.

Garima thinks that the next generation is free and exposed to many opportunities to learn. For them, the world has become connected, and it’s great. The only thing they have to do now is to gain experience as much as they can.

Talking about the COVID-19 pandemic, Garima says that it changed everything for her business. It transformed the concept of work-life balance into a work-life merger. Also, she had to shift all her BPO work online, which also took a lot of planning.

Talking about the principle she follows in her life, Garima says that it is from Stephen Covey, which is about the ‘Circle of Influence’ and ‘Circle of Concern’. It has helped her to be calmer and motivated in life.

In her free time, she likes to be with her two daughters, read a book or watch movies.
