Ganpat Singh Deora is the HOD of the Botany Department at M.L.S.U. He did his M.Sc. and PhD from this institution itself under the supervision of the former Vice-Chancellor of ML.S.U., Prof. B.L. Choudhary, from the same department.
Ganpat belongs to Pali District. He lived in a joint family with economic challenges and lack of basic facilities like electricity. But he studied hard to make his career facing such hardships.
Ganpat started his professional journey by joining as an Assistant Professor in B.N. College in 1997. He worked at various positions in B.N. College where he was also appointed as a Head of Department and worked in various committees as well. In 2011, the Rajasthan government adjusted all the teachers of all the government aided institutions of Rajasthan in government colleges and he got his first posting in Meera Girls College as an Assistant Professor, where he worked for six months. After that, he got posted in Pratapgarh and again after one-and-a-half years, he got transferred to Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur as an Associate Professor of Botany. After five years, he got a chance to serve in M.L.S.U. and moved back to Udaipur.
Ganpat says that there are three systems of higher education viz. Private, State enabled system run by Rajasthan Commissionerate and University. He considers himself privileged for working in all three systems of education.
About challenges, Ganpat says that his journey was full of great difficulties and he has achieved all this despite living in deprivation.
Ganpat says the source of his inspiration is his grandmother because despite being an illiterate lady, she started the journey of Ganpat’s education and because of her vision, he could achieve everything in life. His grandmother always motivated him with life lessons and even today he continues to follow the path she guided him on to get success. That is why she is his biggest inspiration.
