A dedicated social worker with 25 years of experience with Jatan, Gangaram Kumhar has strived for social development. From child helpline services to community coordination, his journey reflects commitment, learning, and service to children’s welfare.

Gangaram Kumhar has been associated with Jatan, an NGO, since its early days, for approximately 25 years.

From the beginning, he has worked closely with children, initially with the Child Helpline in Rajsamand, and later with ‘Khushi Pariyojana, which focuses on children between the ages of 3 to 6 years.

After this, he worked with the Panchayati Raj system, and currently, he is associated with the Devgarh Block, where he works as a Cluster Coordinator.

Gangaram shares that he initially started his journey as a cook. During that time, he met the Director of Jatan, Kailash Ji, and through interactions with the people working there, he joined Jatan to cook food for the team. When he joined, Jatan itself was in its initial phase. Gradually, he began working as an Office Assistant, and from the start, he took responsibility for all kinds of work, small or big,that needed to be done.

Gangaram Kumhar was born in Railmagra, where he completed his education up to the 10th standard. After receiving a supplementary exam in Class 10, he temporarily discontinued his studies. Although he later cleared the supplementary exam, he did not continue his education immediately.

After joining Jatan, Director Kailash Sir guided and motivated him to resume his studies, emphasizing that there is no age limit for learning. Inspired by this guidance, Gangaram applied for the 12th standard through open schooling and successfully passed. He then completed his Bachelor’s degree (BA) from Railmagra, followed by a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW), which he completed in 2025.

Speaking about his role models, he shares that Kailash Ji Brijwasi is his greatest inspiration. He believes that it was only because of Kailash Ji’s support and encouragement that he was able to complete the education he had once discontinued and pursue a career in social work by completing his MSW.

He shares a thought that inspires him deeply: “Life always has ups and downs. If there is a bad time today, a good time will also come.”

Regarding his work with the organization, he mentions that they are currently working extensively with children, and his aspiration is to expand and strengthen this work further.

With over 25 years of experience, he reflects that when he initially worked with Childline, he felt hesitant to speak in front of police officers or people holding senior positions. Today, however, he confidently communicates with senior police officials and authorities whenever required.

His only dream is to see children study well and move forward on the right path. This, he says, would give him immense happiness and satisfaction.

Jatan Cluster Coordinator Gangaram Kumhar strongly feels that the struggles he faced in his own life should not be faced by children. He does not want them to discontinue their education due to obstacles, as he once did. Instead, he wishes for them to complete their studies smoothly and achieve a good position in life.

He also shares that while working with Childline, he encountered many children suffering from malnutrition and congenital heart problems. Through his work, he helped ensure that such children received proper medical care. Today, when he visits the field and meets those same children studying and growing well, he experiences a deep sense of inner satisfaction and fulfillment.
