Ganesh Ram Jangir is the CEO of Newndra Innovations, which provides affordable, light-weight exoskeletons for people who suffer from spinal problems, especially farmers and workers.
Ganesh belongs to a family of carpenters and spent most of his time making wooden toys during his childhood. In his 6th standard, he got admission to Navodaya school, which helped him hone his innovation skills. Ganesh also participated in many science exhibitions, which exposed him to much learning. Thereafter, he joined coaching and started preparing for the IIT entrance exam. However, Ganesh could not qualify and got an admission to a private engineering college in Jaipur.
Ganesh belongs to the Nagaur district of Rajasthan, where his family has a small farm. After school, he used to help on his farm and often experienced severe backaches while doing so. Ganesh realized that it was the same for every farmer in the field. This led him to think of some solution to address this problem. Ganesh then reached out to a professor at IIMA with his proposal and sought support from him. Fortunately, his email was acknowledged and he received funding from the National Innovation Foundation, from which he prepared his concept idea. His proposal was accepted and he finally got a patent.
Ganesh also received a fellowship from the Indian Institute of Science. He was lucky to strike an opportunity to meet Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for the innovation he had brought about. After finishing his engineering, Ganesh was placed at TCS, where he worked for three years. He resigned in 2016, and started his own venture called Newndra Innovations, named after his village. At that time, Ganesh applied for the Indo-US Science & Technology Endowment Fund and was fortunate enough to feature in the top 3 companies. Since then, he has never looked back and embarked on his journey to provide relief to farmers from their backaches.
Speaking about his challenges, Ganesh shares that it was difficult to procure all the parts to develop his product. However, over time, he managed to manufacture them.
Ganesh considers Steve Jobs and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam as his role models. He is also inspired by the saying, "Where there is a will, there is a way," and Dr. Abdul Kalam’s quote , "If you want to shine like a sun, first burn like a sun."
Ganesh feels that both education and experience are equally important.
Ganesh advises the youth to persevere because success does not come easily. He also suggests that they follow their passions and interests and never underestimate themselves.
Besides work, Ganesh enjoys spending time in nature and going for trekking. He wishes to help people save their lives, especially those who die from road accidents.
