Gagan Mishra is a Theatre Artist at Sangeet Natak Academy.
He is from Jaipur and has been into performing arts like children’s theatre and theatre in education for twenty-two years now. Besides, Gagan is also into light design that goes into live performances for which he has been to Dubai and Thailand. He has also been a part of the NCERT panel’s Art and Aesthetics Department and a contributor to the book ‘Joy of Theatre', published by the ministry. Gagan has also been a Ministry of Education Fellow, where he earned two years of research experience documenting the art and culture of Rajasthan.
When asked about his role models, Gagan says he considers his parents as his role models. On the professional front, he draws inspiration from one of his theatre directors.
Gagan goes on to say that the field of performing arts is quite time-consuming and takes longer than other fields to build a name. He started his journey in children’s theatre as a hobby and slowly climbed up the ladder to make it his full-time profession. During his journey, he was also inspired by certain personalities who have played a prominent role in this field.
Gagan says that he believes that success is something that gives you happiness and is consistent. He adds that there will never be a time when someone is truly successful, but it is an ongoing process. Gagan feels accomplished when his work is recognised and appreciated by all. He urges everyone to keep a learning attitude.
Talking about the pandemic days, Gagan says that COVID turned out to be a highly unexpected event in everyone’s lives. He goes on to say that it had an impact on all performing arts artists since all ongoing activities came to a standstill. However, he didn’t let such life events bog him down, and he continued to wait for the light at the end of the tunnel. Gagan says that COVID gave us an opportunity to spend quality time with our family members and focus on our fitness.
Gagan is also an advocate of mental health and has undergone training in yoga. He also believes in staying physically fit and often goes cycling. Besides, Gagan likes to spend time with his friends and indulge in children's games to rejuvenate himself.
