A tabla player, Farooq is carrying forward the tradition of his family. He has played with many eminent artists, and considering that an achievement, he is moving forward on his path.

Farook Khan is a tabla player. He has been playing the tabla since his childhood.

He learned to play the tabla from his father, Ustaad Siraaj Khan. He says that his entire family has been contributing to music.

Describing his childhood memories, Farook says that he had seen his father play the tabla since childhood, and since then he had also wanted to learn to play the instrument. He says that in his childhood, he used to practice playing the tabla with kitchen boxes and used to act like his father playing it in front of his mother. After seeing his inclination toward the field of music, his father started teaching him to play the tabla.

Speaking about his challenges, Farook says every artist has his own journey and sees his own kind of ups and downs in life. He also faced many challenges during his journey. To support his father, who was sixty years old at the time, he had to leave his studies after the tenth grade and move to Mumbai.

Additionally, he claims that in order for the artists to perform well in a show, they must go through a demanding eight-hour training regimen. They perform throughout the entire night, occasionally in various programs. Sometimes, even after the entire night of programs, they receive less remuneration. However, he believes that every negative event or individual only serves to help you mature.

Speaking about his mistakes, Farook says mistakes are not bad and everybody should learn from their mistakes in life. He believes that in the beginning of his career, he used to trust everyone and have high expectations of them. By the time he realized he shouldn't take anything personally, he was able to accept people without passing judgment on them.

When asked about his achievements, Farook says he has been fortunate enough to play the tabla with eminent ghazal singers Ustaad Gulam Ali Khan, Pankaj Udhas, and Anoop Jalota, as well as famous singers like Lata Mageshkar, Suresh Wadekar and others, He also had the opportunity to work with Kishori Amonkar, a well-known Jaipur Gharana classical singer, and Hariharan. He sees working with such veterans and getting their blessings as his achievements.

To calm and relax his mind, Farook listens to Lata Mageshkar’s songs and ghazals by Ustaad Mehandi Hasan and Ustaad Amir Khan. He also likes to talk to his close friend, Ranjeet Rajwada.

Farook’s life mantra is "There is no shortcut to success, so work hard and be honest and truthful to your profession."
