Eric went to Poland to study architecture as his parents wished to see him become an architect. But, there he befriended a group of tattoo artists and eventually, became a tattoo artist as well, and thus he could also pursue his passion for sketching.

Eric Edward is a tattoo artist and the founder of Pachakuth Tattoo and Piercing Studio based in Kochi, Kerala.

Eric was born and raised in Alleppey, a city in Kerala. However, he is currently settled in Kochi.

Recollecting his childhood memories, Eric says that he had loved to sketch from childhood. He would learn from sketch artists in his area in his free time. However, being the only child of his parents, his parents wanted him to become an architect. He joined a college to study architecture but soon dropped out of it. Then he moved to Goa.

Eric shares that he lived in Goa for five to six months as a street artist. He would make a living by selling his paintings. He says that contrary to people’s opinion, an artist can make a living via their art and he did that whilst he was in Goa. Then, he moved back to his hometown and tried to convince his parents to let him pursue Fine Arts. His parents allowed him to pursue Fine Arts on the condition that he would finish his studies in architecture first.

He went to Poland, where a bachelor’s degree in architecture is completed in only three years as opposed to India. But he dropped out of college again and then joined another college in Poland itself and shortly dropped out from there too. Meanwhile, he got to make friends with people who were tattoo artists. He learned tattoo art from them and later bought a tattoo machine himself. And then he moved back to India.

After moving back to India, Eric started working as a tattoo artist. Initially, he had to face some challenges to put things in order but things kept falling into place as he never stopped putting in efforts to manifest his dreams. Later, he also went to Mumbai to learn more about tattoo art and refine his tattoo skills. He then moved back to his hometown. He initially worked with a couple of tattoo studios there and then set up his own tattoo studio in Kochi.

Eric thinks that making mistakes is all right so long as you accept your mistakes and learn from them.

Talking about his achievements, Eric says that whenever he is able to accomplish what he desires, he considers that as an achievement. Besides, being able to derive happiness from his work is also an achievement for him.

To aspiring tattoo artists, Eric advises them to dream big and always believe in themselves to achieve their goals.

Eric acknowledges the mentorship that he receives from his parents and all the other people, in different aspects of his life.

In his free time, Eric likes to read and go on solo excursions. Besides, he also likes to play the guitar.
