Dwarka Prasad has been serving the cement industry for fifty plus years and feels content about it. He believes in honesty and hard work to achieve success. He feels that it is our duty to contribute to our society and country by our everyday deeds.

Dwarka Prasad Somani belongs to Kapasan, Chittorgarh. After completing his school education from there, he came to Udaipur for his graduation in science from M.B. College. Then, he decided to change his field to Engineering and went to Dayalbagh Engineering College to be graduated in Mechanical Engineering. Thereafter, he started his career with Udaipur Cement Works Ltd.

After taking his superannuation as M.D. from Wonder Cement, Dwarka Prasad has been working as a Managing Director in Somani Industries Technik Pvt. Ltd. This company provides consultancy in relation to Mineral Processing Units.

Dwarka Prasad spent his childhood in Kapasan. He reminisces about his childhood memories and time spent with his friends. They used to play sports, study and go to the nearby local pond for swimming. He says he is still in contact with some of those friends.

Dwarka Prasad’s toughest time came when he was looking for a suitable job after completion of his Engineering. Due to unavailability of jobs, most of his friends went abroad for job hunting. Meanwhile, luck favoured Dwarka Prasad and he got selected in Udaipur Cement, so he moved to Udaipur.

At that time the condition of the cement industry was anyway awful because of environmental issues. And belonging to the science and mechanical field, getting a job with a good pay scale was a challenge. But he decided to take this job and proceed further.

During Covid, Dwarka Prasad spent most of his time at home and enjoyed it with his family. Professionally he was engaged with Wonder Cement and would be involved in other activities too. Due to digitalisation, he was well connected with everyone and never felt like meeting anyone in person. Everything went well and it gave a boost to everyone that without going to the office, work can be managed well.

In Dwarka Prasad’s opinion, since Rajasthan is very rich in minerals, there is a huge scope in the mineral processing industry which only needs a perfect vision to multiply the money invested in such business. It is a very highly paying industry. Even after spending more than fifty years in the cement industry, he finds it captivating as it promises higher returns to the entrepreneurs and society as well as generating good employment opportunities.

Dwarka Prasad’s role model in his life has been his father who used to say that knowledge is supreme and it generates great ideas. One just needs to think, look ahead, work hard to make wonders happen. Education is the only thing that can give us a total outlook of life. His father used to say that never care about a job, when you can become an entrepreneur and it is always better than any job in every sense. Because anyone can become an employee but not everyone can be an employer.

According to Dwarka Prasad, Education gives you a detailed roadmap to move ahead in life but at the same time there is no substitute for experience. A person with experience is always skilled by getting exposed to the realities of life but education also helps in solving problems faster and easier. Hence both have their own importance.

Dwarka Prasad opines that a leader should be clear about his objectives and roles. He should clearly state his expectations from subordinates and guide them in a better way. If a leader lacks clarity, it impacts the outcome of the entire team as it becomes difficult for them to follow the leader. As a result, targets are not achieved.

Dwarka Prasad advises that you should always look forward instead of backward.Every decision you take today should be very well thought of so you don't have to repent upon it later. You should always consider your past decision for your future reference as that can guide you in a better way. If there persists any deficiency, then it will enable you to rectify your mistakes to improve.

Dwarka Prasad recommends that you should introspect everyday about what contribution you have made to the society and the country and what have you learned on that particular day.
