As HoD-Music in a prestigious institution, Dr. Srishti has been contributing her best to the promotion of Indian Classical Music. The ‘Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Academy Award’ and the ‘Best Artist of the College Award’ in BA are just two of the many honours she has won.

Professor of Music Dr. Srishti Mathur is Head of the Vocal Music Department at the Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya in Lucknow.

She joined this organisation in 2005, learned music there, and from 2017, she has been a professor there itself. She had previously worked for five years as a Lecturer at K.R. Girls PG College in Mathura.

Speaking about her experience, Dr. Srishti shares that she has always had confidence in God and believes in spirituality. Dr. Leelawati Arsole taught her music, and Madhu Bhatt Tailang provided her further tuition after that. She became a research scholar and qualified for NET in 1992. After that, she was accepted into music school, where she stood first in her class. In 2005, she enrolled at Bhatkhande Vishwavidyalaya, where Shruti Sadolikar Katkar taught her music. She has always put a lot of effort into reaching her objectives.

Dr. Srishti considers herself lucky to have worked in two commissioned jobs. Her success is that she has a supportive family. Among the many honours she has won is the ‘Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Academy Award’. She received the Maya Israni Memorial Gold Medal in BA along with the ‘Best Artist of the College Award’. She also got a Gold Medal from the Faculty of Fine Arts for winning the MA programme.

Though her birthplace is Allahabad, she was raised and finished her schooling in Jaipur while her father was stationed in Rajasthan. Her mother, who was herself a gold medallist, provided her with her earliest learnings. She obtained her MA from Rajasthan University after completing her BA from Maharani College in Jaipur.

Her spiritual guru and his disciple Swami Arundhati Das serve as Dr. Srishti's role models. She also appreciates her husband, parents, and gurus for their encouragement and support.

When asked about her struggles, Dr. Srishti replies that it was initially challenging to manage things after marriage. We have an obligation to bring the family with us. She thinks our family will support us if we put their needs first.

Her motto in life is to always put in a lot of effort and exercise self-confidence. Writing is crucial in life and so she produces research papers as well. She argues that success requires patience.

Dr. Srishti counsels people to have confidence in God and to be honest when working hard. Learning anything takes time and effort; music is a spiritual discipline that requires both patience and hard work to perfect. She advises the music instructors that their reputation among their pupils should be such that the students should respect them, not be scared of them, and sing with confidence.

Discussing her mistakes, Dr. Srishti mentions that she had studied dancing and that during a conference at her institution, the instructor requested that they perform a farewell song. A girl there made a tiny error during her song, and the teacher reprimanded her for laughing at her. She tells the story of how she once neglected to bring her instrument to a large banner programme. She learned that it is a must for vocalists to travel with their instruments, and not bringing hers was a big mistake on her part .

She always thinks about her spiritual teachers, tries to meditate, and enjoys relaxing music as a means to destress
