Dr. Sonu Parmar, a distinguished Assistant Professor and E.N.T. expert at a prominent medical institution in Jodhpur, has excelled despite her background in a backward community where girls' education was undervalued.

Dr. Sonu Parmar, an ENT specialist and assistant professor at Mathura Das Mathur College & Hospital, Jodhpur, has been providing OPD, emergency, and MLC services since 2017. She primarily works with deaf and dumb children, issuing certificates and treating them with therapies.

Sonu was born and raised in Banswara and did her M.B.B.S. from Jodhpur. After its completion, she did her P.G. and senior residency at Dr. S.N. Medical College, Jodhpur. During her training, Sonu developed a keen interest in the field of ENT and decided to specialize in it.

During the COVID pandemic, she served as a second-line warrior but later became a front-line warrior due to the "Black Fungus" disease that affected diabetic patients. As an ENT specialist, she helped treat these patients, who were more likely to be affected by this disease. Sonu's expertise in ENT proved invaluable in diagnosing and treating the complications caused by the "Black Fungus" disease. Her dedication and commitment to her patients led to successful outcomes, as she worked tirelessly to provide the best possible care during these challenging times.

It was difficult for her because she was responsible for a small team consisting of five faculty members and eighteen resident doctors who had to adapt their duty rosters while working routinely for 12 to 18 hours a day, sometimes even more, in the wards, OPD, and OT. Everyone gave up their vacation days and paid time off to continue working at the hospital for about three months.

Sonu had always desired to work as a teacher and a doctor. Nonetheless, her family is made up of engineers. Her two wishes were fulfilled. After becoming a doctor, she began instructing M.B.B.S. students and has been in the position of an assistant professor for four years now. After two years, she will also be permitted to instruct P.G. students.

Many did not value her accomplishments and success since she was a woman from a traditional society. But over the course of eight years, her earnest approach and diligent labor transformed people's mindsets.

Sonu considers her father, who recently retired as an executive engineer, as her role model. Her father had always forbidden her from being distracted or helping out around the house. Rather, he inspired her to excel in school and advance in life.

Drawing a comparison between education and experience, Sonu says that education and experience are interconnected, as experience enhances patient treatment over time, while education alone cannot determine the best treatment for a particular patient.

When asked whether she is a born leader, Sonu says that she wishes to be a leader in the future, but for now she follows her H.O.D. 's lead. She believes that in order to be a successful leader, one must work hard and stand up for the team in order to provide them with a sense of security and protection.

If Sonu was given a chance to travel back in time, she would go back to her P.G. life and relive those moments of fun and learning. During her postgraduate studies, Sonu had the opportunity to immerse herself in a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment. She believes that reliving those moments would not only bring back joy and laughter but also allow her to further enhance her knowledge and skills in her chosen field.

When Sonu has some spare time, she likes to spend quality time with her family, especially her kids.

Sonu’s message for everyone is that when you work hard in your initial days of learning, you can live your later days with ease and less hustle. She encourages others to embrace challenges and make the most of their learning opportunities as it lays a strong foundation for future success. Sonu believes that by putting in the effort early on, individuals can pave the way for a smoother and more fulfilling journey later in life.
