Inspired by her businessman father, Dr. Sonu found her true passion in entrepreneurship, leading her to establish a silver jewelry and handicrafts business. She has also forayed into hospitality and started a hotel. Despite facing gender biases, she overcame challenges, earning recognition as the youngest entrepreneur in 2021.

Dr. Sonu Jain is the owner of Swarna Silver Handicraft Showroom and Prathaniya Comfort Stay in Udaipur.

Dr. Sonu shares that Swarna Silver also has a manufacturing unit specializing in the silver coating of handicrafts, wooden furniture like sofas and dining tables, and household items like watches, and decorative elephant pairs. They do all the coating with pure 999 silver.

In addition to Swarna Silver, Dr. Sonu is also the co-owner of Prathaniya Comfort Stay in Udaipur, which is known for its hospitality and service

Dr. Sonu hails from Bhinder, a small town near Udaipur. She completed her schooling from there and came to Udaipur for her higher studies She did B.Sc and M.Sc in Biotechnology and went on to complete a PhD in the same subject to fulfill her father’s dream of seeing the prefix ‘Dr.’ before her name.

Talking about her professional career, Dr. Sonu says she taught for some time in a college and also ran a coaching institute, but her heart lied in business, as she had always seen her father doing business.

When asked about her role models, Dr. Sonu says she considers her father as her role model. She is also grateful to her husband who has always supported her. She also acknowledges the support of her partner in her hospitality business.

Talking about struggles, Dr. Sonu, a trailblazer in a predominantly male business community, says she faced gender biases. The loss of her father cast a shadow on her direction, but in her daughter, she found both solace and motivation.

In terms of achievements, she earned the Youngest Entrepreneur or Youngest Businesswoman award in 2021. With her father's blessing she leaves no stone unturned in her professional career.

Right now she is working on her father's dream to expand the business with customized gold furniture.

Drawing parallels between jewelry and hospitality, Dr. Sonu emphasizes the symbiotic principles of customer bonding and service authenticity.

Her advice for everyone is to do things for yourself, as however hard you try, you will never be able to satisfy others.

To the youth, Dr. Sonu's message is to “ use social media wisely and upskill yourself with the use of the internet”. Moreover, she also believes in women's empowerment and entrepreneurship.
