With her firm determination, Shipra fulfilled her goal of becoming a doctor. Coming back from the UK, she has been practicing in Gurgaon for the past three decades. She believes that there is always scope to learn, no matter how old we get.

Shipra Mathur is a pediatrician. She has been practicing in this field for the last thirty years.

Shipra belongs to Jaipur. She did her schooling and post-graduation in Jaipur itself. Thereafter, she lived in the UK for almost eleven years. Currently, she is practicing in Gurgaon.

Recalling her childhood, Shipra says that her father was a general surgeon in a railway hospital and her mother was a Hindi officer. She did her schooling at Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School. She cleared the PMT exam and got into SMS Medical College. She completed her MBBS and an internship in seven years. Thereafter,  she did her PG in Pediatrics at J. K. Lon Hospital. Then she moved to the UK for her further studies and started working over there. After a few years, she came back to India and is continuing to practice.

Shipra shares that her family always emphasized on studies. Seeing her father and uncle, she developed an interest in the field of medicine. She was good at her studies and pursued pediatrics as it interested her the most. She says that in her field, she treats children under eighteen years of age. When she was in the UK, she learned about the advanced technology that can be utilized in treating diseases in children. She has learned to be patient and how to communicate effectively from her parents.

Talking about her achievements, Shipra says that she has been able to fulfill all her goals, like completing her pediatrics studies and practicing in India.

When asked about her role models, Shipra mentions her father, from whom she learned that there is no age bar to learning, and her mother, who has a strong personality; both have been inspirational for her. A few of her school and college teachers have also inspired her.

Shipra’s life mantra is to live responsibly and let live. She advises against getting judgemental.

In her spare time, Shipra likes to read, listen to music, watch documentaries, and chit-chat with her friends.

To all those who want to pursue this field, Shipra advises them to first be sure which branch interests them most because it is going to be a long journey, so one must be passionate about it and study consistently.
