Ravi Sharma is a journalist for First India News.
Native of the Karoli district, Ravi completed his school education here and later moved to Jodhpur for higher studies. He started his career by working as a journalist at ETV-Rajasthan for approximately 12 years and also worked as a Bureau Chief for a couple of years at Zee News-Rajasthan.
Cherishing his childhood memories, Ravi shares that he always had a strong notion about wanting to bring a positive change in society and become an inspiration to revolutionize the world. Ravi believes that communication is the key to bringing about change in society and channeling it towards the greater good.
Talking about struggles, Ravi says journalism is a very exhausting job where they constantly have to bring up-to-date news. He also says that sometimes those people with whom you put a lot of faith and support are the ones who break your trust and make you question your own beliefs.
Discussing the COVID-19 pandemic, Ravi says that he did his job following government guidelines. The risk levels were very high, but he felt that it was important to cover the news during such times to raise awareness and keep people informed. The conditions were extremely challenging, and his family urged that he no longer take on these duties since it posed a grave danger to his life to go out on the field to cover the news or help people. Being determined, Ravi felt he must help people in need and work for the greater good. He also distributed food and water packets and arranged shelter for needy people. Ravi believes that journalists work as a bridge between the government and the people.
Advising budding journalists, Ravi adds that journalism is a field where you must know the different ways to communicate with people of various mindsets. You meet people from many arenas, and you should constantly be up to date on the newest developments in any field. Someone with good writing skills who understands situations and can analyze and co-relate them can make a vibrant career in this field.
Ravi looks forward to his father as a role model because of his hardships and accomplishments in raising a family during challenging times. His father boosted confidence in his children and never pressured them into selecting a career. His father's only goal was to make his children good enough to help society.
When asked about education and experience, Ravi thinks that education is of grave importance for any individual. Ravi believes that any amount of knowledge is never enough, as it is like an ocean with infinite limits. He is a big believer in acquiring as much knowledge as possible every day. In his spare time, he enjoys reading books and also states that the research sector is his favorite among all other fields of study.
Giving his thoughts on leadership, Ravi adds that leadership is something where a leader works as a teammate and can boost the confidence of his teammates and motivate them. In a professional setting, all the teammates should work together, utilizing their potential to the fullest.
Ravi believes that when performing a task, immerse yourself in it so that you start enjoying it and work with all your might towards it. He adds that when you start a task, you should focus on it and do it with adequate planning and strategies in place to attain your goals.
