Dr. Shankar Chaudhary currently holds the twin positions of Director of Training and Placements and Head of Digital Marketing at Pacific University, Udaipur.
Reflecting on his academic journey, Dr. Shankar shares that he pursued a degree in Electronics from the distinguished SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad. Following this academic pursuit, he delved into a decade-long corporate journey, concurrently earning an MBA from the prestigious R.A. Podar Institute of Management, Jaipur sponsored by the very company that he was working for.
Post-MBA, Dr. Shankar embarked on a new chapter of his life at the Pacific Group, initially as a faculty member for MBA students. His ascent within the institution culminated in his roles as the Head of Social Media & Digital Marketing and Director of Training and Placements. Presently, he is in charge of multiple university committees, holding important portfolios that underscore his commitment to providing abundant opportunities for graduating students of all streams, driving them towards prosperous careers. Notably, his efforts have propelled over 5000 students into the professional arena, with the added joy of witnessing many embrace entrepreneurial paths.
Born in Rajsamand, Dr. Shankar began his primary schooling from his village school. A move to Udaipur for further education at Govt. Guru Govind Singh Sr. Sec. School marked a vital shift. Fondly reminiscing about his weekends spent helping his mother with farm work, Shankar holds dear the memories of his village life. Given the chance, he expresses a profound desire to revisit his childhood.
Dr. Shankar's father stands as his source of inspiration, as his father started from scratch and achieved everything on his own by working hard in his life. In addition to familial influences, he credits his college lecturers, corporate colleagues, and seniors as invaluable mentors. He is highly influenced by one of his seniors who worked at Microsoft for six years despite being a person of an average intellect.
Navigating through challenges, Shankar surmounted hurdles to earn his engineering degree. Subsequently, his journey took him across cities, braving numerous interviews. Despite an offer to work in the USA, he declined as the consultant was demanding commission, which was against his ethics. His career kick-started in Delhi at a Canadian MNC, leading to international assignments in Singapore, Australia, and Dubai. Advocating for real-world experience, Dr. Shankar encourages students to venture beyond their hometowns.
Ten years in the corporate echelons saw Shankar rise to the role of a project manager. However, his proudest moment unfolded in academia, with his photograph gracing the pages of the Times of India, acknowledging him as a pillar of Pacific University. Simultaneously, he spearheads an NGO and is pursuing his entrepreneurial journey, showcasing a trajectory of success.
Dr. Shankar's life mantra, "It is better to be alone than in the company of wrong persons," echoes through his journey, guiding his choices and principles.
To the youth, he implores them to invest their entire being in their pursuits, advocating self-belief and practical exposure. An outspoken supporter of cutting oneself apart from the attraction of social media, he underscores the need of never giving up until the goal is achieved.
Drawing parallels between education and experience, Dr. Shankar likens them to the two sides of a coin. While education lays the foundation, it's the experience that matters in terms of employability.
If granted the power to revisit any moment in time in a time machine, Shankar yearns to go back to his college days which were a blend of fun, learning, and a fresh start.
Dr. Shankar's parting message is to never compromise on integrity, emphasising the importance of living an ethical life and having an unwavering dedication to one's conscience.
