Dr. Santvana Bapna holds the position of Assistant Professor and serves as the Head of the Physics Department at the B.N. P.G. College in Rajsamand.
Always inclined towards teaching, Santvana began offering tuition to neighbourhood children while pursuing her PhD. Her teaching journey included stints at Maharaja College of Engineering and Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies before she secured the role of Assistant Professor at B.N. P.G. College.
An Udaipur native, Santvana pursued her primary education up to the fifth standard from Vidya Niketan, then continued her schooling from St. Teresa School. She chose the Science and Maths stream during her 12th grade but found herself disinterested in Chemistry. Consequently, she pursued her BSc in Computer Science, Physics, and Maths from MLSU.
Recalling her childhood memories, Santvana reminisces about her naughty nature and the time spent at her maternal grandmother's house in Udaipur. She recalls a time when her mother gave her 25 rupees to purchase milk, but she only spent 20 rupees on milk and used the rest of the money to buy chocolate. When her mother found it out, she scolded her, and she learned that if she wanted anything, she should ask for it and, if not, should be content with what she already had. She remembers her grandfather’s words: Live the way you want when you have achieved your goals in life.
After completing graduation, Santvana successfully cleared the entrance exam for a master's program, coming in first on the list of chosen candidates. She chose to pursue an MSc in Physics. Simultaneously, she entered a new phase of life through marriage but remained dedicated to her educational pursuits, ultimately achieving a commendable score in her MSc. Despite not securing a gold medal in MSc, she feels fortunate to have an understanding mother-in-law who supports her ambitions.
Sharing her struggles, Santvana says that the loss of her father at the age of six was the most difficult time she had ever experienced. She resided at her maternal grandparents’ home, while her brother lived with their paternal grandparents. Her mother's determination to complete her BEd and secure a government teacher job inspired her throughout these trying times.
Santvana believes that both education and experience matter in your career, and guided by that she continued her studies while gaining experience as a teacher.
When asked about her role models, Santvana says that her paternal grandfather stands out as a role model for her who consistently encouraged her academic pursuits.
In her leisure time, Santvana finds solace in writing poetry and actively engages in social service.
To the younger generation, she imparts advice to pursue education not solely for personal gain but with the intention of utilising the skills acquired to benefit others.
