A guest faculty at a commerce college, Dr. Sanjay Jain, who has published more than eight research papers in reputed journals like Asian Journal of Management and the Human Resource Management Journal, teaches HR management through activity-based learning, focusing on student development, industrial visits, and skill-building. With a background in both academia and cricket, Dr. Jain is also a BCCI-qualified cricket umpire and coach.

Dr. Sanjay Jain works as a guest faculty at the University College of Commerce & Management Studies, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur where he teaches in the Master in Human Resource Management (MHRM) Program. He teaches subjects such as Human Resource Management, Human Resource Planning, and Management of Transformation.

Delving deeper into the realm of HR Management, Dr. Jain shares that the studies at the college take place through activity-based learning. He teaches students of B.Com, BBA, and MHRM with a focus on the overall development of the students, through practical learning and industrial visits, for their skill development, and personality development. Dr. Sanjay Jain shares that the students are taken through case study sessions and psychology tests. He believes innovative sessions play a crucial role in building students’ experience and enhancing their exposure.

Sharing his achievements, Dr. Sanjay Jain mentions that on the academic front, he has published 8-10 research papers in his subject. His work has been published in the Asian Journal of Management and the Human Resource Management Journal. Apart from academics, he is also a BCCI- recognized cricket umpire, coach, and a national level cricket player.

Dr. Sanjay Jain shares that he began his cricket journey in 1997, representing Udaipur district and later advancing to the state-level cricket team in 2002. Although he eventually stopped playing, his passion for cricket remained unwavering. Driven by this passion, he topped the state in the Cricket Umpire exam and later qualified as a BCCI Level 1 Umpire. For the past 12 years, he has been managing cricket operations for the Mohanlal Sukhadia University team, where he also serves as a cricket coach.

Reflecting on his early days, Dr. Sanjay Jain shares that he worked in SBI Life Insurance for ten years as a Directory Manager. However, due to personal reasons he had to quit the job after which he switched to academics. He enrolled himself for a PhD under the supervision of Dr. Rajeshwari Narendran, and his journey in the academic world took root.

Born and brought up in Udaipur, Dr. Sanjay completed his schooling at Central Academy, Sardarpura. Thereafter, he completed his studies in the commerce stream from the University College of Commerce & Management Studies, where he is presently teaching. Since 2012, he has been working in the capacity of a guest faculty at the college.

When asked about his role models, Dr. Sanjay says he looks up to Rahul Dravid and admires him for his patience and consistency, which he believes are two important qualities every person should have.

Dr. Sanjay Jain believes in the statement, “Results are the outcome, but if you follow a proper process, you will definitely achieve them. Success may arrive late, but it will eventually come your way.” He emphasizes that one should always put in honest efforts to succeed in life.

In his message to aspiring HRM students and professionals, Dr. Jain emphasizes that HR Management is fundamentally about interacting with people. He explains that the field exposes individuals to a variety of personalities, making Interaction and Communication essential skills. HRM, he highlights, plays a pivotal role in fostering these abilities.

In the end, Dr. Sanjay advises all students to be patient, as patience is the key to success. He emphasizes that one should always put in their best efforts to achieve results.

Dr. Jain acknowledges that ups and downs are part and parcel of life, but what is important is to stand tall during a downfall, take a stand for yourself, and be strong.
