Dr. Sanjay Gaur is a Professor and HOD of Computer Science Engineering in Jaipur Engineering College & Research Centre (JECRC), Jaipur. He is also the in-charge of the Artificial Intelligence Department. In addition, by passion, he is also a writer, poet and motivational speaker.
Describing how he got inclined towards poetry, Dr. Sanjay shares that he always had an artistic side that he kept suppressed because he was more concerned with his studies and pursuing a career in science and technology. But he resumed writing during the COVID-19 lockdown and began giving performances on a variety of platforms.
After his stories and poems were published in the Rajasthan Patrika, he felt even more encouraged to write. He began penning tech-related articles in Hindi so that even a layperson could grasp the subject. He also recited his poetry at a number of reputed events, thanks to the encouragement of his seniors, who informed him about these opportunities.
Though his family was from Kankroli in Rajasthan, he was born in Kolkata, as his father was posted there. Soon after his birth they shifted to Kankroli, where he was raised and finished school. He completed his education at Rajsamand's Gandhi Seva Sadan. His school recently awarded him the Devendra Puruskar in recognition of his achievements.
He completed his post-secondary studies at Kankroli's Shri Bal Krishna Vidya Bhavan. He then finished his BTech graduation from Nathdwara P.G. College. He completed his PhD in Data Mining from MLSU under the supervision of Professor Dulawat. His passion for learning motivated him to obtain an MBA, an MA in economics, an M.Phil., and an M.Tech.
Belonging to a small village, Dr. Sanjay feels proud to have been awarded the Rashtrapati Rover Award in 2001–2002 by President K. R. Narayanan. He will never forget the day he got the president's signature on the certificate recognizing his social service during his tenure as President Rover. He had a chance to represent Rajasthan in the 30th National Science Exhibition in Dehradun in 2003, where he presented his model based on internet and multimedia in education. He also had a chance to shake hands with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the Indian President at the time, after giving a brief explanation of his model to him.
Dr. Sanjay adds that the All India Council for Technical Education chose the department he works for, as Rajasthan's ‘Sarvshreshth Training and Placement Department’ for the academic year 2019–20.
Personalities who inspire him the most are Swami Vivekanada, who has always strived to serve the nation and its youth. Then, Mother Teresa, who came from a foreign land, dedicated her life to helping and supporting the underprivileged in our nation is also an inspiration for him. And Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who has been his motivation in the field of science, is also his role model.
Dr. Sanjay believes the country will naturally develop if each citizen fulfils their individual obligations and roles with honesty and integrity.
Recounting his struggles, Dr. Sanjay says his path from a small village school teacher to a respected professor at a renowned university has not been smooth. He feels that his desire to always learn new things has kept him going and ultimately enabled him to accomplish his dreams. He urges others to pursue their studies and try to see things from different perspectives.
Dr. Sanjay's advice for those who want to become teachers is to never stop studying, even after obtaining the required qualifications. He thinks that teachers have a great responsibility to shape the future of the nation and should view their work as a noble profession in which they apply their knowledge to mentor and educate kids, rather than just a way to make ends meet.
He believes that a person's profession and passion should be harmonious. While your career may take precedence, you also need to set aside time to pursue your interests if you want to find true fulfilment. He also expresses gratitude to his seniors, friends, family, and students who supported him in pursuing his career and passion.
Among the many institutions where he has lectured are the University of Delhi, the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, the All India Council of Technical Education, the JSS Academy in Noida, the DY Patil University in Kolhapur, Pune, the Rajya Shaikshik Anusandhan Evam Prashikshan Parishad, the Department of Science & Technology, and many more.
Through his poetry and writing, such as ‘Jal Darshan’, he also seeks to highlight issues of national significance, the formation of a nation, and the spirit of nationalism.
He encourages the country's youth to recognize the potential they hold to develop our nation. According to him, we must continue to be goal-focused and protect our Indian culture as we progress. In his opinion, the three most crucial things that young people need to keep in mind are nationalism, education, and culture.
