Starting as an obstetrician in 1998, Sangeeta now works as a professor, valuing education and experience equally. Beyond medicine, she has contributed to society by  training hundreds of doctors and by running a cancer awareness project.

Dr. Sangeeta Gupta began her medical journey as an Obstetrician in 1998. She worked in Nepal and Delhi during her senior residency and then engaged in sixteen years of private practice. However, her true passion for teaching led her to join the American International Institute of Medical Sciences in Udaipur as an Assistant Professor, where she has been dedicatedly working for the past six years.

Sangeeta shares that she was born in Patna in 1965, and completed her schooling in a convent school in Patna and pursued her MBBS from a medical college in Kanpur.

Fondly reminiscing about her childhood, Sangeeta cherishes the joyful moments of listening to stories told by her grandparents, sneaking out with cousins for ice cream, and her brother's guidance in skating and cycling. Living in a joint family brought her immense joy and unforgettable experiences.

Sangeeta candidly shares the challenging phase she encountered during her senior residency when she was diagnosed with tongue cancer at the age of thirty-one. When she sought treatment in Mumbai, her cancer was detected early and successfully treated through surgery. Despite this difficult period coinciding with her career and responsibility of raising two children, Sangeeta courageously faced the challenges.

After her surgery, Sangeeta faced difficulty in speaking but persevered and started her private practice in Patna and achieved remarkable success.

Sangeeta says that over time, her role models evolved. In her younger years, her parents were her inspiration, while later in life, she found motivation in Sudha Murthy and also drew lessons from everyone around her.

Reflecting on her journey, Sangeeta acknowledges the mistake of excessively trusting people, which led to financial and emotional challenges for her.

Aside from medicine, Sangeeta finds pleasure in reading, painting, and cooking. She admires Udaipur's miniature paintings and Bihar's Madhubani art, feeling a strong connection to both places.

Beyond her medical career, Sangeeta's achievements extend to her contributions to society. She shares that she joined an international NGO as a family planning expert, training around twelve-hundred doctors in thirty-eight cities over two years. Additionally, her five-year project on cervical cancer screening and treatment in different regions stands as a significant accomplishment for her. Witnessing her students succeed in life also fills her with a sense of achievement.

Sangeeta emphasizes upon the equal importance of education and experience, encouraging others to make the most of their education to gain valuable life experiences.

Sangeeta's advice to the youth is to remain steadfast in their chosen careers and pursue their dreams with wholehearted dedication.

In times of adversity, Sangeeta finds solace and strength in the quote, "Tough times don't last, but tough people do," which continues to enhance her resilience and determination in overcoming obstacles.
