Dr Sandeep Jain is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology at Darshan Dental College, Udaipur.
Sandeep was born in Bhilwara. His father was a government doctor and he would be transferred to different cities. And Sandeep also had to stay in different cities with his parents. But after a few years when his father was transferred to Kota which is where his family originally hailed from, they settled there itself. After completing his schooling, he did his BDS from MR Ambedkar Dental College, Bangalore and then he did his masters from Darshan Dental College, Udaipur.
After completing his masters, he worked at different educational institutes in different cities. But for the past five years, he has been staying in Udaipur and working at Darshan Dental College. He also owns a dental clinic.
Sandeep says that he was good at Mathematics but chose Biology as his father wanted him to be a doctor. After completing high school, he got selected for MBBS too, but he chose to pursue BDS as he was interested in it and his father also advised him to opt for BDS over MBBS.
If he could go back in time and undo something, then he would want to stay in Bangalore only and do his PG from there as he thinks that it would have given him more options and opportunities with regard to his career. Besides, he says that he had been offered a scholarship to pursue a PhD from Hong Kong University which he missed, so he would want to grab that opportunity too. But he is content with his life and has no regrets whatsoever.
Sandeep considers his father as his role model who is very sorted out in his life. He also considers his father-in-law and his wife as his role models from whom he learns how to be balanced in life.
Sandeep thinks that both education and experience have their roles to play in life. He says that your education enables you to know about things but your experience teaches you how to do things. He also adds that in real life your communication skills and patience help you work better in the medical field and to be successful in life you require a combination of skills and not just your education.
He shares that as a kid he liked to play physical games. But when he was in college, he liked playing video games and roaming around with his friends. And now, his son is a stress-buster for him. He also likes to watch TV and play indoor games like Chess, Carrom etc. in his free time.
Sandeep believes in focusing on positive aspects of each and every situation and it keeps him happy and smiling all the time.
Sandeep shares that during the Covid pandemic, the entire dentist fraternity was the most susceptible to catching the virus as dentistry involves treating patients from close and patients are required to remove masks whenever they are being examined for their dental problems. In light of the pandemic, he had to shut his clinic and also had to see the patients at the hospital selectively. He also adds that many businesses were hit by the pandemic and many people faced financial problems due to the pandemic. But, on the other hand, he feels happy that we also got to spend time with our families.
