Dr Kumar is a research enthusiast in Botany and Biotechnology and continues to contribute his findings and ideas to this domain.

Dr Kumar Sambhav is an Assistant Professor at Amity University, Jaipur. He works in the fields of Biotechnology and Botany combined. Kumar wanted to become a doctor upon clearing his 12th and to give wings to his research. However, since he couldn’t clear PMT, he decided to get into the Research and Development sector by doing his bachelors and Masters in Science. Thereafter, he completed his PhD in the subject and pursued his interest in research.

Kumar is from Kota. He feels that the scenario back then in his childhood was better than what it is now since there were no internet and mobile phones. In contrast, he observes that today’s generation is all engrossed in gadgets and don’t have time to play outdoors.

Talking about his struggles, Kumar shares that his PhD journey has been challenging. During COVID, in terms of personal life, Kumar found it difficult to manage family, education and personal time together. In terms of academics, Kumar shares that initially students were looking forward to online classes, however, months down the line, it got tiresome for them and they wanted to get back to the offline mode.

Discussing the scope of Botany and Biotechnology, Dr Kumar shares that various opportunities are available with Biotechnology and medical agencies and MNCs. One can choose to appear for government exams and opt for lectureship and can go ahead in the research domain to pursue a postdoctoral degree. He talks of funding agencies available in India and overseas with the help of which one can start their own company and be an entrepreneur.

Kumar’s role model is Professor SL Kothari at Amity who is his supervisor, mentor and guardian and also provides guidance to students and faculty members. If he could go back in a time machine, he would like to get back to his childhood days and opt for Computer Science instead.

He shares a message which goes like if you are good, then you will feel that people around you are good too, and if you are bad, you will feel people around you are bad as well. Kumar believes that one should not bother about results and continue doing their work. Besides academics and research, Kumar likes to play tennis and spend time with his children in his free time.
